Biggest takeaway from this for me is how much our depth improved. Last year we had bums like Lokonga starting the game and it wasnāt till Jesus came on that the team kicked on. This was actually the pattern in almost all preseason games actually. The shit guys were stinking the place up and then when our starters were on we were playing liquid football.
Weāre now playing a pretty strong side and we still have Havertz, Jesus, Jorginho and others on the bench. Martinelli, Odegaard, Zinchenko not involved. Rice and Timber to also join.
Pretty pleased.
I wonder whether weāll see the entire first XI changed or close to it.
Pretty exciting opportunity for Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly if they get 45 minutes in a side with a lot of regulars like Jesus, Jorginho, Havertz, Balogun, Tierney, etc.
Iād like to take a look at Trusty and Walters too. One of those guys could be a candidate for a last man in the squad type role.
