If we sign a striker I don’t mind, just don’t see how losing Auba and bringing in no one gets us top 4.
Well we lose nothing because
a) he’s been trash
b) he won’t play for us again anyway
Would hope we bring someone in even if he doesn’t go but sure the club don’t want to pay the wages for him to sit at home doing fuck all.

Its a crime when you have talent like him and piss good years away. Feels like he is going through some sort of early midlife crisis.
Just leaves you angry because we have to look for a replacement because he is being a dickhead.

He’s likely to be better than anyone we’d get on loan and we’re probably not making a real signing this window. Laca and Eddie fully fit aren’t going to do it long term, and if either get a knock then we’re even more screwed.
If Mikel tries to build bridges at some point in the season we might get something out of him.
He’s being compared to Ozil a lot, but Ozil was willing to come back into the team after his forced isolation when he was needed.
I can’t believe any of these guys would rather just not be a footballer anymore. You don’t get to these kind of levels without some kind of fire inside you for the game. Maybe his absolute heights are gone but there’s surely something still in there.

Are you really going the middle East though if thats how you feel. Obviously things are not right here but with January window coming surely you get your agent to get you a better side.
He still might go somewhere better but if he goes out their I think you can judge his interest level has dropped.

It’s an odd situation. The wording used by Arteta is just too damning for Auba. He didn’t even throw Guendouzi or Ozil under the bus like that, and you best believe that’s the last thing he wanted considering his contract renewal was done under him.
I was wondering if something could be worked out when Gabon sent him back but Arteta in his presser came off like Auba was a foreign entity to him.
We’ve seen how stubborn the club and Arteta are in these situations. That run in 2020 was getting from worse to worse and they still didn’t look at Ozil. I can’t see this going differently.
Just hope the club can pull this Vlahovic move or at least get someone like David in to support Laca.

He wasn’t a striker, more or less a wide forward.
He was our main goalscorer from 2014-2017 tho
Yeah because our striker was average. So no shock an elite wide forward was scoring the bulk of our goals.
If we had Sanchez and Auba 2016 we probably win the league…

Sadly I don’t think we even win the league that year with Auba. Giroud not scoring for months was obviously a huge problem but that team had such a weak mentality we were never going to achieve the consistency for a title charge.
Beat City at home, next match lose to Soton 4-0. Beat Leicester on that last minute Welbz goal to give our title chances some life, follow that up by letting Rashford clown us on his first team debut and then losing at home to Swansea. Rinse and repeat. Probably our most talented team since 2008 and we got 71 points.
