Iāve only just realised that if the Wirtz move goes through for the reported fee, it will become the third most expensive transfer of all time.

To be fair, its hard to consider these things outside the explosive growth of money into the game. I never trust the āinflation adjustedā transfer fees you sometimes see from the past, especially the really old ones, but 100m euro for Bale in 2013 was definitely a bigger expenditure relative to revenues than 150m for Wirtz in 2025.
