Nicolas Pépé

He does and I want to see him develop into a better team player.
Like a few others though under the new manager there’s been pluses. Goal and assist in the United game. Better not great second half Monday.
Fair though for expectations to be higher than this. Judge better by Easter time now.

Wages and fees are not just paid for what a player can do right now, but also what players might do in the future/for their potential. Especially for players under 25. With a player who can be considered a late bloomer it’s way to early to make these kind of statements imo.

He’s actually on around 80K.

Not that it matters.

Basically a PL pauper. Right @JohnnyH?

Some context wouldn’t be bad, the team has been in a bad shape altogether. It hasn’t made things for Pepe easy at all. Also, not all players gel instantly, especially players that came right after a tourney in the summer, doesn’t know the language and barely participated in a pre-season in 2019.
I’ll be more judgemental next season where I would expect his English to be better and he had a proper pre-season with Arsenal.

Idiot of a footballer

If he would have passed to laca, we could have been 2-0 up and game done n dusted but instead he choose to do that shitty dribble and ruined the chance.

95% of his antics dont come off.

I knew you’d be straight in the thread. Give it another 10 and you’ll be in the Ozil thread talking about how incredible a player he is or something lol

He needs to simplify his game. Arteta needs to drill this into Pepe’s thick skull.

His dribbles are too inconsistent. Loses the ball way too often. He needs to complete more passes and key passes to be effective for us.

It’s funny because that clip that gets used in the Burnley game never shows the conclusion where he runs out of ideas. His footballing intelligence is his biggest hindrance.
He’s not a kid and that’s were the doubts lie for me.

He’s not fast enough on the ball or fast enough with his mind to ever be a top player for me.

Looks to me very much like Gervinho with a bit more end product and a bit less ball retention.

Do you guys think he could ever be a CF? he wins a lot of aerial duels, he’s got good movement and footwork. and a good shot.

But his decision making in buildup is bad.

I’d rather he play CF than Lacazette anyways.

Thought his shot was very smart and well turned onto the post by their ‘keeper.

If it goes in and it’s 1-2, all this criticism doesn’t happen

I think @AbouCuellar mentioned it earlier in this thread - we’ve bought a guy who is 24 and turns 25 in May. It’s very concerning that his decision making is sub-par for a player of his age, particularly given the price we paid for him. I thought we had purchased a player who was very close to the finished article.

However, we do need to give him more time. He’s had to adapt to a completely different system twice (Emerycuntball and now Arteta) in the space of a few months so there are mitigating factors. He’s a player who thrives on the counter attack but that isn’t how we setup primarily. Looking at his qualities, he has many of the same attributes that the top wingers in City’s system have - I do believe he can be a big player for us with the right coaching and instructions. He’s having to start again under Arteta so let’s see where we are come the end of the season.

He almost won it for us in the end with the shot that was turned on to the post.

Isolated throughout the entire game, to be fair.

AMN never makes any forward runs and Özil stinks up the place every time he’s on the pitch.

Expected Arteta to use his Wingers the way Guardiola does, but we’ve not seen that yet.

I don’t think we can put as much on Emery as we could with other players tbh.
He’s had pretty much the same role and freedom.
Times he’s not in it. Other times he takes initiative and it’s mixed results. I honestly don’t think he actually has the vision or natural ability to produce. This will also make it hard for other players to read or anticipate his intentions.
Really needs to come good now with Auba out.

I’ll preface this by saying you’ll probably think I’m mad for this.

But he has got good aerial ability (wins a lot of balls high up)

Good movement, and is a big threat even when playing badly i.e. seems to get a dangerous shot/chance all the time.

Do you guys think he’d make a good CF? Like an even better Adebayor lol.

His poor passing can be compensated for better as well, as he is less involved in the buildup.

What you think.

I think he’s an expensive Walcott.

Are you suffering from Amnesia? You asked the same question 6 hours ago.

Ummm maybe, but we have 2 strikers and wingers are more of our weakness

Nobody answered so I asked again. Thank you for answering.

Yeah agreed, it’s tough because we would then maybe need another winger.

But imo, we should shift Lacazette no matter what this summer.

And this experiment could be tried as a 3rd choice option after Auba or Martinelli
