I think that’s exactly what we’re going to do. IIRC it was James from the Arsecast who said that Mudryk is the guy that they want. I don’t think there are alternatives which makes me even more wary of doing a deal for him in January.

I wouldn’t mind if goes longer if we do end up signing him by the end of January. But the longer it goes you kinda feel it wont go through… I don’t want to see another Vlahovic/Raphina/Douglas Luiz situation… Can’t say I regret not signing any of those, I just don’t want to see this falling through.
I really do hope, if we can’t reach an agreement with Shaktar in the coming week or so, we have some plan B or whatever… Although it’s hard to have quick B plans in big transfers like this. Looking at that attempt with Raphina, seems we wont go desperately just to get another body in if we fail with Mudryk, Arteta wants a quality long term solution.
You could say we’re in a much better position to get him, compared to Raphina… Maybe a bit more money needed, but at least seems the player wants to join us, we’re far more attractive compared to a year ago, and we don’t have much competition atm. Really hope we go deeper into that money bag if needed, 10-20m more or less wont matter too much to us if he can just give us a little push this season, not to mention his long term potential.
I just believe we wont let this deal to fall through, we probably still want to negotiate a more acceptable fee. If Shaktar are really too firm in asking for a ridiculous sum we should pull out immediately (if that’s the case I think we would have already done that).
We have but Shakhtar are unsure on the structure of the deal.
