He’s goal return is good for a club of Palace’s level that already doesn’t score alot. He’s not a provider but we can use his directness as part of the squad, which works well with a CF like Jesus who enables others
I don’t get the penalty thing either. He’s scored 6 nonpenalty goals already this season which is more than Saka and Martinelli
Where’s the evidence that if he came to Arsenal he wouldn’t be able produce? He’s consistently been one of the best players outside of the top 6 for some years now. Why wouldn’t his skillset translate to a top club?
With younger players you can mould them to fit your style. With Zaha, what you see is what you get. He’s going to want the ball and he’ll get tackled a lot, and he’s going to moan at the referee for the treatment he’s getting when the team needs to get back into shape. He’ll shoot from bad positions when his teammates are better positioned. The number of times he loses the ball feels problematic too. The stylistic fit feels like a square peg in a round hole at best.
Because he doesn’t have the skill set of a top club player. He’s selfish with the ball at his feet and expects to be the focal point of the attack. I don’t see how Zaha will perform a 180 at the tail end of his career and suddenly become a selfless player with better understanding of when to release the ball.
If you look at his style of play it very much suits where he plays. There’s less pressure on him to perform defensive duties and he sees more of the ball than any other attacker. If he doesn’t release the ball on time or he’s dispossessed he’s not going to be reprimanded for it like he would at a big club.
We play a high line, with a left back that tucks in and two midfielders that push very high up the pitch. If we end up with Zaha getting dispossessed every 5 minutes we’re going to be leaking goals for fun on the counter.
Zaha has been much more of a team player this season and us still racking up those numbers. As happy as I’d be to make it one, this isn’t a Zaha topic.
Mudryk at 50m seemed steep. They’re having a laugh at 100m.
Given a season people will be saying that its a snip, he is 21 and is already decimating champions league defenses (involved in 5 goals in 6 matches 3 goals 2 assists)
who said he would go for that much…rumours? Well what do you want, these are champions league teams regardless of who they are. If we used him for europa to give martinelli a rest i am sure he would put up similar numbers if not better. Next year if we are in the CL you saying those numbers will not be useful? What are you wanting Neymar? Then only being 21 can get many useful games out of him.
I just want someone capable of contributing to our title challenge from day one with G/A in the PL, is Mudryk that player? I don’t know but his age and lack of top level experience suggest he may be more of a developmental player at first.
I don’t know how much he’ll cost I can go off what’s being reported.
he looks a very special talent. Tbh i reckon he can be got for around the £30m, if those prices being chatted about weren’t crap we would have moved on ages ago. I think that if Edu and Arteta are still looking at him they know he is good especially if they are spending a good sum on him. He certainly has room to grow but already he looks impressive (to me anyway) and will make a difference straight away. In a couple of seasons though i reckon he will be a massive player for us if we get him and everyone will be saying whatever we paid for him will be a snip.
I’m only joking tbh. Unless you’re presenting literally Neymar, in still going to want Zaha! Mudyrk looks good to be fair. Wouldn’t be upset with him signing. Him and ESR are two very interesting options to rotate with Saka and Martinelli.
He’s saying Shakhtar sporting director didn’t name the club but the journalist “knows” it’s Arsenal.
I personally have a really hard time believing the club will pay anything beyond 40m euros for this lad.
Would be out of character under the current management if we did.
All this Mudryk talk and Edu probably has an unknown Brazilian already lined up, probably even joining him in his barbeque party to celebrate his recent promotion.
Seriously though, what we need is a player that will do the business here and now. He fits the profile of players we have been signing, and certainly has the attributes to succeed in the Premier League. Signing a player like this not only boosts the morale and confidence of a team, it goes some way in demoralizing our opponents.
Having said that, I’d be surprised if we agree to pay the kind of money that is being rumoured.
