Mohamed Salah

Also done it in 2 and 1 (respectively) less seasons than the others.

Might have to rethink where I rank him in PL history tbh. Got some feeling I can never shake he’s been more jammy than the others (often getting pens to top up his goals when he plays shit) but can’t really argue with the numbers and his criticality to everything Liverpool have done the last decade.

Felt mane was clear when they played together but Mo’s surpassed him by miles.

Same. And we’re not alone. It used to be a big debate within their fanbase too. Even ex-players like Carragher were rating Mane more.

Salah is probably a lot closer to Henry than one would like to think.

Obviously not as good as Henry, so please don’t flame me lol

You say that but I’ve seen a lot of shit internet opinions putting salah ahead recently. Especially when sky sports did those top 10 rankings a couple months back.

I hate that there’s even room for a debate on it but I guess as time goes on it will only favour the most recent.

Really hope the 20+20 thing doesn’t fall this season. Looks likely.

He’s in the same tier for sure. But King will always be the King.

Damn, I thought it would have been a banker that Ozil was somewhere in that list!

from memory Özil only hit +10 assists once in his Arsenal career

Me too, he only managed 1 season with 10+ EPL assists. Got 19 assists in 15/16, and then progressively got worse G/As after each season.

Salah is absolutely up there in the all time top tier of PL players

Salah is a machine who fits into any era of football. One of the games greats and people can’t really deny it at this stage.

I don’t favour him in the eye test over a lot of PL greats though but he absolutely is a superb player and one of the best ever

Goals and assists aren’t everything but he has a real chance to have the greatest G+A season in PL history this year. He’s on 39 already and the record is 47 (44 in a 38 game season).

All of which is super fucking annoying to have happen this year. Even a normal great season from him and we’d probably be neck-and-neck for the title or slightly ahead.

He’s second for me

I honestly didn’t know why quite many thought like that.

I thought they were always quite close, during their primes. At times one was in better form, at some times the other, but to say one was clear ahead of the other is too much imo. Never felt that really.
I was always leaning more towards Salah, but I know Mane had a ton of fans too.

I thought Salah was actually being a bit overlooked during those best seasons with Klopp, no matter how good he was.
Took a while for him to get the recognition he deserves.
His production was always insane, and not just that, he was an elite ball carrier, an elite dribbler all the time, a guy who was making goals, small games, biggest games, didn’t matter. And always brought nuch more than just goals. Always rated him above Hazard for example. How many big, great goals did he score in the derbies btw?
And all the while, up until a few years, his work rate was insane, couldn’t believe how much he helped the defence.

Liverpool are beyond lucky to have him, I can’t believe they are stalling over a new contract, especially with the attack they have now and with Salah being the only true elite attacker there.

Henry is as good but although De Bruyne, Hazard and Gerard come close, what other player has been consistently as influential and more of a match winner in the PL than Salah, as well as playing almost every game?

Not sure KDB has been any less impactful for city tbh.

Got the titles to back it up as well - yeah it’s a team sport but Liverpool had a top squad too.

There’s not a lot in it and both are influential but Man City probably would have still had the same success without De Bruyne and Liverpool probably would’ve struggled without Salah and also De Bruyne wasn’t always available because of injuries.

Personally don’t believe this at all.

Not saying I don’t understand the view of Salah being as influential but I’m really not sure KDB can be discredited on that front, just because it seems like City have had more top players.

They ain’t winning at least the last two PLs without him imo.

Incredible player to the point I dislike him now. Only other Prem forwards I felt this was about were C.Ron and Drogba. The respect level is high though.

He’s in the tier 1 all time category of Premier League forwards that is topped by Thierry.
