Mikel Merino (23)

Seems a bit unlikely a challenge from 2 months ago is only really manifesting into a problem now.

Yeah, that looked like a nasty tackle, going in (with studs) with a lot of force on his foot. Now I remember being very worried about Merino being seriously injured there.

If it’s that foot in question now I’d be very suspicious abut that tackle starting/opening this injury.

That just sucks for Mikel. Let’s hope we can win a few trophies and cushion the blow of missing the World Cup.

Losing him is a big blow for the run-in. #6/8 is where we are lightest for numbers as it is. Rice and Zubi will need to carry otherwise we’ll have to field two attacking midfielders - which isn’t the worst thing in the world, but only Norgaard is an option now to bring on to shut out games.

Is that a mobility scooter ?

Not close to returning then

The dog looks cute!

Quite missing Mikel. Such a versatile player. Still think him or Havertz playing close to Gyokeres is our most threatening combination. If/when we get over the line, Merinos contribution should not be forgotten.

Is he definitely out for the season? Really missing his output. Such a valuable squad player. Very unfortunate to lose him during a crucial period of time.

An outside chance of being back for the World Cup but unlikely to return for us. I miss him.

Fuck. Out until 2028. These injuries are getting ridiculous.

I’d be really devastated for him if he doesn’t because this is World Cup year and he’s proven himself a reliable option for his country.

If there’s anyone who will score us an 87th min winner in the CL final it is Mikel Merino.
