That game was likely to end in blanks as well if not for those two moments.

Was watching some highlights. State of him tracking back once he was moved to midfield. Thought I was watching Maya Jama in Release the Hounds.
I mentioned this before but beyond his lack of contribution going forward, it’s his work defensively that has me more disappointed.
Fuck those duel numbers. He looks completely overwhelmed from the tempo and physicality of the PL.

Big knock against Arteta this clown passed the talent ID check.
Should have good natural sense of spanish midfielders but this was a huge miss. I’m not sure he meets the technical requirement to play in an Arsenal XI

For me it’s not so much his abilities which is the issue but more so that he is tailor made for the profile that Arteta is playing. A system that is yielding a lot of frustration amongst us.
Slow and progressive buildup with maintained control in all areas of the pitch minus the one that matters. The best hopes of scoring now days is by means of overpowering defences through grit and capitalising on concentration lapses.
Really good squad player to have in the side. You need players to come in and contribute and he’s done a decent job in the forward role. Hopefully we see more of him in midfield in future; can’t afford to have passengers in the side.
Nothing exceptional or wow about his performances since arrival, it’s what you expect from a squad player but taking his chances well.
We now need to target real first team quality in the summer that take Arsenal to the next level.
