Mikel Merino (23)

When two aerial monsters go for the same ball, one must die. This is the universe.

Tough in killing his own player… didn’t see him injuring Haland or someone else ?

I guess Gabriel saw some data about him before he arriwed, saw he was great in the air and great in the DUel’s and went like “I have to show this basque cunt who’s the air commander in this bitch”.

I bet he’s happy as fuck now.

Yeah how could he not do a mid air flip to miss merino and ensure he only broke his own neck instead, warra dickhead Gabriel!

Guess we were due a bad injury after a relaxing season last term

We missed a key midfielder and our main striker for most of last season, don’t think we were due shit tbh!

But if this is the worst of it for the year I’ll easily take it.

Yeah, that’s why I said I’d take those two months that were reported the other day right away. :vinai:

Hate to be that guy, but strange no one mentioned Debuchy’s injury yet. :trossard2: :vinai:
It killed his Arsenal career. Obviously other factors played a part at the time, but I immediately thought of Debuchy when hearing about the injured shoulder… :trossard2:

Obviously I don’t expect it to go that way with Merino, and it shouldn’t. There’s no one in the team to take his place in the meantime as Bellerin did to Debuchy… I mean, I wouldn’t mind Nwaneri exploding, but I don’t see it.

Additionally, he is a player brought to produce right away, and not really a long term investment. Him maybe losing almost half of the season before he started is quite disappointing.

Was waiting for this type of player since we switched to 433, he arriwes and this happens… :vinai: That’s the biggest thing for me. After having Xhaka and Rice playing there, I was pretty hyped about seeing someone who is more equipped for this exact role. Results aside, he should make our midfield more pleasing to the eye, was really looking forward to that. :vinai:

Hmmm, wasn’t tough at all when he tried to tackle Minteh vs Brighton, was a weak as fuck attempt of a toe poke challenge instead of going shoulder to shoulder

New signing Timber too.

Don’t like this emerging pattern.

Have to ask one thing now, was that actually Gabriel Maghalaes or Martinelli?
Does anyone have the exact info? Doesn’t really matter, I’m just curious now, considering everyone thinks it’s Maghalaes, but I haven’t it anywhere saying it’s “Maghalaes” specifically. I only saw Arteta being quoted saying “Gabi”.

On one place it was told it was actually Martinelli, but I’m still more suspect of G6 lol.

I saw everywhere posting Gabriel, not just Gabi.

You think Nelli can hurt Merino??

If he falls on his shoulder yeah, pretty much, yes.

isn’t Martinelli a bit of a twig though? Not Vieira twig, but still

You don’t really need to be 80+ kg to break someone’s shoulder if you land on someone.

:jorginho:

Even Vieira would be enough, although it does sound a bit funny at first.

Edit
Now I do see it says it was Maghalaes, was mislead by some obscure source earlier lol.

WOW… I literally can’t believe this.

Such an annoying blow and a big one at that. In a season where we can afford almost no slip ups and a time where we need to manage the workload of Partey and Jorginho. He was the perfect injection I felt and we’ll have a stern test holding the fort without taking on more injuries.

Can’t even make this stuff up

Absolute shit show

Going to try and put a positive spin on the injury…on the basis he makes a full recovery, he will hopefully remain fit for the rest of the season and will play his part when Partey inevitably gets injured later in the season.
