You know he’s been banned for it before don’t you? You idiot. When you’re ready to drop your obsession with me I might one day engage with you but until then, go away lol
Some really harsh views on Arteta. The rot at this club isn’t purely manager related - it’s the poor mental + technical quality of the squad and the fact the morale from the top down is shot to shit. The lack of ambition from the board is polluting the whole club. Arteta called it “energy” and he’s right - the energy around the club was awful when he took over and it takes time to reverse that.
Any manager would struggle to turn this rabble into a top class team in just a couple of months. He’s made some regrettable choices such as keeping faith in Lacazette for so long and weird defensive choices etc. but he barely knows these players yet.
I’ve seen enough improvement (despite some blunders on set pieces recently) from a defensive, organisational and structural point of view to have some hope we are going in the right direction.
He needs until at least this point next year to have transmitted his ideas to the squad (not a squad made in his image btw). He deserves at least that much time for crying out loud.
That just seems like it’s gonna be too late, bro ![]()
We could be in absolute dire straits by then.
However, I’m also with you that we shouldn’t hit the panic button and sack if we’re in a similar position in the league this time next year but also still in European competition
My problem isn’t really with Arteta but with the decision by the board to hire him.
Like you say, there are massive problems at the club but that’s why we needed an experienced, strong manager and i don’t think he is the right man for the job.
We could have got someone like Ancelotti to get us back on track and then looked Arteta after he’d managed at a lower level to see if he was any good.
I requested a reference or retraction, for the serious accusation of racism. Sorry to burst your buddle, but no one cares about you. I’ve seen postings of yours I’ve agreed with and disagreed but avoided conversing with you because we have history.
I’m only engaging with you because you’re belittling someone who I consider a genuine reasonable poster and accusing him of racism and I haven’t witnessed anything like that from Trion. He’s probably too Pro-Modi for my liking. But that’s the only issue I have with him, no one cares about you. You’re projecting narcistic delusions of grandeur.
Looking at his initial reply to you though, I suppose he was knocking you. But it seems like you had to low blow him further and go lower. But that creates a toxic environment on the forum.
Ok mate
I used the hipster version of n-word in a non racist manner(plenty of posters did that previously) and when you deleted that post or sentence, I pointed at the hypocrisy among black community.
Doesn’t in the slightest makes me a racist.
Not sure that hiring Carlo would have really helped. The rap on him at this stage is that he’s a man manager not a tactics guy. The Bayern players weren’t exactly enamored by him and we all know our players need help tactically.
Hiring Arteta was a huge risk because it put us out of the market for a guy like Tuchel. The Board botched the appointment by waiting too long and may have botched the appointment all together by hiring a guy with no experience and still having the same internal goals (UCL by hook or by crook).
We still have yet to play a convincing 90 minutes and Arteta has been dealt a tough hand in terms of losing players to injuries and red cards to hamstring in game substitutions but we can all see that’s a weakness in his coaching style at this stage. He needs to fix that quickly. He also needs to get ruthless with Lacazette.
Overall I’m a little underwhelmed by his reign so far. I thought we’d see more of a defined style beyond shoving everything to the left.
For people complaining that he’s a yes man, well what did you expect Raul to do? Hire a guy who could undercut him? Create another Wenger situation where the coach had too much power and influence?
But one thing I have heard a lot of in the wake of the EL loss is that the players hit their limit or they were tired or unfocused. That’s Arteta’s fault in my book. He spent two weeks with them in Dubai, he should know exactly where their heads are at. He sent out a team that stunk out the first half and stuck with them, fine. But his changes weren’t progressive and came too late.
I don’t sign the checks, but if the goal is to get back to Champions League as quickly as possible and a guy like Tuchel was even remotely interested I would drive Arteta to the airport myself. I just don’t know if that’s the goal anymore or if it should be.
The club will have to get leaner financially and Arteta is probably cheaper than Tuchel or someone comparable. The club will have to really consider blowing it up (which I wanted last summer) with a return of far less than they would have had to work with in June 2019. I don’t know if Arteta is going to get us back to where we were but he probably fits the bill if we’re looking at another two years in the wilderness while we restructure.
We should back Arteta. He’s still learning too. As well he’s done more right than wrong so far IMO. I personally don’t want our club to be a revolving door of managers. Mikel deserves time. As mentioned before the squad needs big changes which I trust Arteta to help implement.
I’m backing him for the near future at the least.
No lels or my dood? Had to double check if it was you who posted this
I’m not used to you being serious haha.
Indeed. Arsenal fans used to laugh at Chelsea and took/take real pride in how many managers less they had compared to other clubs.
What would backing him look like though? We spent the summer 2020 money in August (allegedly). Lacazette’s value is in the toilet, Aubameyang’s got all the leverage, Özil’s value is in the toilet and Pepe…pshh, who knows?
We’d have to move players who are popular in order to have money to spend and we don’t even have a defined playing style at the moment. We might have to sell Lucas and Matteo Guendouzi in order to actually have a decent budget.
It was a term used historically to dehumise black people. Some black people use it but many black people do not because they consider it dehumanising. Therefore you shouldn’t use it.
If I said some Indian people do ‘XYZ stupid things’ or if some Hindu people are racist against Muslims, therefore all Hindu people are racist against Muslims you’d probably find it offensive. Would you not? Then don’t apply the same standard to black people.
I understand that because you’re from the Indian sub-continent you may not be familiar with the context
I can understand the reaction but the ban and marker of being a racist is not warranted for the whole incident.
If that’s all it takes to be one, everyone on this forum is one.
Herein lies the issue for me though. We shouldn’t be the club where he’s learning at unfortunately. But if he stays, he definitely deserves huge backing.
I’m as annoyed at the Olympiacos result as everyone and it’s unacceptable for a club of our resources.
I’ll be giving Arteta until at least halfway through next season before I pass some judgement on him though, if we aren’t at least right in the top 4 mix by the turn of the year it’ll be a worry.
I don’t think you’re a bigot, but you were perhaps being racially insensitive. And if you can learn that, that’s all good.
Also perhaps a good historical context would be a Bangladeshi girl I dated who said she didn’t like being referred to as Bengali because of the way Pakistanis would label them as Bengali as they raped and massacred them as they were ethnically cleansing them. She found being labelled as a Bengali dehumanising.
Now she’s my only reference part for that comparison, so maybe she’s wrong, or maybe it’s a good comparsion I don’t know.
I disagree the club would be seen that way for a quite awhile to go yet, we’ve only sacked one manager so far and that’s after he was failing colossally.
I have no clue what that is referring to.
Yea, that was dumb. They won loads of shit.
