I agree, this is similar to the seasons when Wenger won the double although the difference is Man City aren’t as strong as the Man U team we were up against.

But although it’s unlikely we’ll win every competition, it is ours to throw away, rather than another team overtaking us.

That said, I’d be surprised if Man City don’t win a trophy this season. They’re not amazing, but they are better than last year.

But so are we! Hope we can get some things time around.

I’d be happy.

I mean, I can think of teams who could beat us in all 4 competitions.

I do not think we’ll win both domestic cups. The Champions League has too many great teams in to be confident of at this stage and it’s way too early to be thinking of outcomes in the league.

All in all, way too early to be thinking of numbers of trophies.

We’re really in a prime position to win something this season, and as you said win big even.

However, season’s are unpredictable and before you know it you could end up with fuck all.
Happened to Inter last season. Had a go at every trophy and then failed to win any of them, with the icing on the cake being that all-time embarrassment in the CL final.

Even if we win the League Cup, that won’t be a sign of things to come either. We remember Liverpool going for the quadruple too, injuries didn’t seem to phase, won the League Cup, top of the league, free run at EL, dumped Arsenal early out of the FA Cup.
Then they got dumped out of the FA Cup by Man Utd, destroyed by Atalanta in the EL, and they dropped out of the title well before the final matchday.

Gotta stay focused, one game at a time and hopefully some much deserved luck comes our way.

They didn’t fail in de Champions League tbh. They simply got beat by a (much) better side in the final.

I admire people who like to be cautious and prefer to take one match at a time.

However, the club might as well fold if they don’t win a PL this season.

  • There is only one legitmate rival
  • That legitimate rival are so average that they managed 3 draws in 3 consecutive games.
  • We are 6 points ahead with 17 games to go.
  • If you were to bribe whoever builds fixture list to build us a favourable 17 games schedule, that person would laugh his way to bank because he wouldn’t have to move a thing from our existing schedule.
  • Our players are in form
  • Our injured players are returning
  • We have a squad that has backup for Saka
  • City lost key players and have to play with kids against United, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle in next 6 PL matches.

It would be a monumental bottlejob from this point onwards to not win the PL.
It would hurt so fucking bad.

Get through the next 5-6 games with majority of points and then I’ll agree with this from there. A few tricky fixtures coming up but the run from there onwards is what you’d want in a title race.

Tbf we had a lot of trouble getting out of that CL group
Can’t say the CL had a similar feeling at all.
But yeah, winning the group in the end was almost like a small miracle, especially with that night at San Siro.

I’ll never get over that Chelsea defeat, still feels worse than the 2006 final, and one of the worst memories as a fan ever…
…until we win that title. :arteta5:

I’ll forget all about the horseshoe ball and will advocate it if this cunt brings us the CL!

A fortnight in football is a very long time and can change everything.

  • That legitimate rival are so average that they managed 3 draws in 3 consecutive games. (Wasn’t this us in 22/23? Whilst we’ve improved quite a bit since then, I do worry about us potentially falling back into that realm.)
  • We are 6 points ahead with 17 games to go. (A two game swing is nothing in this league. Make it 10+ points clear, then we’re talking)
  • Our players are in form (Are they? I’d say a few are, but that game vs. Liverpool really pissed me off. I’m not happy with our attack in the league except maybe Trossard)
  • City lost key players and have to play with kids against United, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle in next 6 PL matches. (I agree, but they’ve just signed Semenyo and he’s already firing)

That said, the next 6 EPL games does seem to be where the league will be won/lost.

I feel like 6pts is nothing at this point. If we lose a game and City win it’s down to 3. Then say the following week City play before us and win, putting them in 1st by goal difference, we go into our game 2nd and nervous. It could all change in one week. Obviously any of us would prefer to be 6pts ahead than not, but it could all change in one week. Just gotta take it game by game as the cliché goes.

Slight assist that Chelses aren’t what they used to be.

But don’t let that small detail get in the way.

Beating Chelsea always feels good.

They are exactly what they used to be. Football didn’t start in 2003.

Also fair context to add

Great to see him go pretty much full strength. Players don’t feel fatigue the same when winning. Let’s keep the momentum going. Two wins from a trophy.

We weren’t what we used to be when they were dunking on us either but somehow that makes them the pride of london in the eyes of their 26 fans.
