Mikel Arteta

George Graham won a couple of league titles with mainly home grown and cheap players.
Ferguson and Wenger had a few but Mourinho relied on outspending all the other PL clubs, buying, not only world class players for the first team but the bench as well.

Mourinho used to play like that while having the most expensive team in the league, whereas Arteta is doing so when the clubs within the league are far stronger and even after spending half a billion on transfers, we can’t assemble a star cast like Chelsea could.

It’s his team though through and through, and it’s just shy of £600m spent, not chump change.

Much of that has to be down to Arteta, that kind of excuse doesn’t cut it with me

Well put.

Don’t know why a lot of people perceived the comparison with Josè Mourinho as an offence to Arteta. We’re talking of one of the best coaches of modern football era and won a lot of trophies.

Paid the overconfidence and lack of humilty to improve his weaknesses and follow the evolution of the game.

I remember when we lost to Fulham, West Ham and Liverpool about 11 months ago and thinking our season was over. Looked bereft of creativity, struggling to score goals and generally miles off it. Title challenge felt over.

And then from those ashes, we go on a ridiculous run, ending the season with 15 wins from our last 17.

I’m gonna learn my lesson from last season when i thought we were fucked, and then we went on to amass more points and goals than we’ve ever achieved in the PL.

There’s plenty of time to get back into a position where we can still be a threat. I was angry and disappointed on the weekend, but this team has real character. I believe in them. I believe in this manager.

Mate, love that enthusiasm for it but I’m struggling to match the energy. I so hope you are right and would happily take the flack for it but I don’t see it.

The run in has always been a case of let’s concetrate on ourselves and just see what happens but we’re already at a stage where we need some third party favours.

I’m rooting for your outcome but the bears are out down my ends :pray:t4:

Yeah man I get that we are in a shitty situation. Some freak incidents have happened like the red cards, and we’ve dropped cheap points now against City and Liverpool from winning positions. The breaks haven’t gone our way. We are playing well below our level but even then, we could (and should tbh) be 4+ points better off. We’ve had a lot of bad luck to go along with our slow start.

I can just really see similarities to last season where things looked bleak, and then we exploded.

We actually have a better squad this season as well. Once we get key men back, I think our fortunes will change. The international break will be a good reset for Mikel.

Zero innovation in attack. Heavily reliant on set-pieces and right hand side. No fluidity, face paced tempo we once saw. Cannot score and we seem to be conceding too.

Frustrating and worrying signs. Odegaard isn’t the solution, there are so many inherent issues with the style of play. Big challenge for Arteta ahead.

There is a distinct lack of innovation in this team, we are robotic, stale and predictable

He needs to find solutions because he’s been looking like not quite a one trick pony but rather a few trick pony

This is becoming very concerning, 5 years into a project and one key player missing and its looking this bad? Really poor.

He needs to sort out this “making no subs in the 80th minute” nonsense, there is near enough no time to make an impact. Wenger did that shit and it pissed me off then as well.

He’s just Mikel Arteta rn

Needs to earn the super back

I mean the plane does depart for London soon.

Blaming the penalties…not good enough boss.

Bitterly disappointing performance from him so far this season. Especially being so well placed coming into it. Embarrassing lineups and tactics.

Bring back attacking football or fuck off. Don’f want to see shit football especially when it’s producing completely shit results.

Fuck me the amount of negativity is getting silly.

We lost to the Italian champions away from home by a penalty lol. And it was a fucking bollocks penalty decision as well. Ref was a gimp all night.

Did people expect us to go there and play brilliant, expansive football against a team who haven’t conceded a goal in the competition yet?

We still should have at least equalised. This was a much better performance and one that shows some upward trajectory.

The result is extremely harsh and a world apart from the shite we put up at Newcastle.
