When did Allardyce say this and do you have any thoughts about why Allardyce essentially saying we’re a soft touch would result in referees being more likely to punish fouls committed by Arsenal players? Was it only after Allardyce said this that we started being punished more and protected less? Before those statements, did you perceive our treatment as being equal to all the other sides in the league?
I dont think I’ve ever seen anyone explain why referees would be stricter with us and more lenient with our opponents, so I’m inclined to believe its pretty much just confirmation bias.
I’m sure many fans of other clubs also think that their club is treated unfairly by referees and I also think they’d have a hard time explaining why this would even be the case, like Arsenal fans seem to when they say we are treated unfairly.
I don’t have facts or figures to back up my assertions I’m afraid but I’ve always felt Arsenal were treated differently ever since Sam said this. Be that but refs, other teams, fans, media, whatever.
Ashley Barnes taking out a Leeds player and not getting carded is a disadvantage to Leeds.
Pogba incident which is really only debatable because it leads to a goal, is a story for Wolves. I don’t see the Xhaka red card that most seen as just as some sort of indictment on Arsenal.
If the same ref rules in them 3 games then you might have a case of sorts.
Ferguson kicked off the don’t like it up em mindset and it quickly caught on with his pals in other managerial jobs in the league. Let’s not forget the officials were in awe/scared of the man as well.
Correct and if all 3 tackles were the same which they aren’t at all. Xhaka deserved his red. We don’t have a right to feel aggrieved. Wolves do though, so let’s look into a conspiracy against them. And Leeds maybe there’s a conspiracy against them
I suspect people who don’t think it’s a red haven’t played football before. If someone does that on a pitch and isn’t immediately dealt with by the ref and the ref is protecting the player that did it by sending him off and pushing people away there’s going to be a fight.
Xhaka jumped off the ground full force at someone.
Arsenal have dealt with loads of leg breaks before but when one of our players does a disgusting tackle we turn into oh it’s so unfair.
Mind-blowing shit.
I didn’t think about it until I was chatting to a bloke who lost his business and house just after having their third kid. One horror tackle and he lost everything. Luckily the league showed some chops and banned the idiot for the rest of the season, so about 20 games.
Yeah I’ve seen it on site alot to be honest. I was 23 when I stopped playing. Bought my first house at 21/22 and did my ankle tendon I couldn’t work for 3 months, as I’m self employed it nearly fucked me. So I obviously stopped playing after that.
It wasn’t a tackle like this, but it was some angry twat who was having a bad game.
Is anyone actually saying xhaka didn’t deserve the red? Think a few of you are getting the wrong end of the stick here. It’s the inconsistency that rankles
And supposedly decision are meant to even out? Already we’ve had the foul on Leno and Saka penalty to go with so many suspect decisions last season. We are due a long fucking run of decisions going for us
If anything that article put refs on alert that there may be attempts at bullying, foul play if you like. We’re actually quite paternal about our jobs, we want football to win and everyone to go home to those they love in one piece.
I don’t see any bias, when I’m watching Arsenal I’m usually shouting “don’t give it” at the screen, hoping the ref hasn’t seen something.
