Mesut Özil

Inviting him to the wedding is a whole other level than just minding your own business to not get your family in trouble.

Who cares, I mean really he can invite anyone to his wedding.

This tbh. Why do any of you give a fuck who he invites to his wedding lol

I think it’s the whole “socialising and cozying up with ruthless dictators infamous for surpressing free speech and human rights” that might rub some people up the wrong way :man_shrugging:

lol indeed

How does it affect you…

But why does it effect you?

Today I learned you can only have opinions on something if your own life is directly impacted.

What a bullshit question to be thrown around.

Not saying that there is a limit to outrage. At the end of the day it really does effect us, more so go to turkey and protest if people are so concerned.

Seriously sitting on a forum in outrage does absolutely nothing.

Would you care if Mertesacker invited Hitler to his wedding? Or Arshavin invited Stalin?

Kurds might care. Maybe Armenians (hello Mkhi) and Greeks (Sokratis what’s up) care?

You are inferring, you actually don’t k ow how their feel.

I say “might”.

Comprehensive reading required.

My response is still relevant, “inferring”

I get the overall point but Erdogan is nowhere near the same level of despot as Stalin and Hitler.

I can get both sides of the argument anyway. I get those who don’t care who Ozil invites to his wedding and I get those who are outraged by it.

I personally don’t care, but I can definitely understand the outrage. Erdogan is a nasty piece of work. I just choose not to bother myself with this.

Its their wedding tbh I don’t know them personally they just play for my club. I don’t care what they do outside

Inferring: deduce or conclude (something) from evidence and reasoning rather than from explicit statements.

What is your point exactly? I indeed infer from reasoning that being Armenian or Greek might cause their feelings to be hurt by Ozil inviting a leader who is notorious for not acknowledging the Armenian and Greek genocide in which probably some of their relatives have suffered. Moreso Erdogan is a dictator, improsining scores of journalists and dissidents and cracks down on the Kurd minority ruthlessly.

I’ll remember that next time you’re ranting about trans people or some other right-wing talking point :+1:

My point still stands you don’t know how their feel. What you just did was projection.

Oh really huh never was outraged.

The guy feels his Turkish identity is important to him and thinks the president of that country is important to that, it’s whatever, it is what it is.

I’ll raise a fuss if Ozil is being a hypocrite over it, if not…well as long as he understands what he’s getting into, he just needs to understand associating with someone like Erdogan is a bad look.

You are using a straw man argument and your reasoning is illogical. No one is claiming to know how these individuals feel, but with some inductive logic you can reasonably claim that this would not sit well with most Armenians and Greeks and people who value freedom of speech and freedom of press.
