Just because I haven’t read his book doesn’t mean I’ve avoided the constant coverage of them on every news outlet.
I’ve got strong feelings about Rees Mogg but there is no way I would buy a book by him.

The way the pair of them have earned millions for doing nothing other than going to America saying they don’t want to be part of a royal family and using the royal family name to promote themselves.
I could also ask, what do people actually like about them?

I like Harry because he is the least royal Royal. He didn’t take the path that was set out for him, instead he took his own path.
I like him because he’s honest about his feelings, and isn’t afraid to share them.
As for Meghan? I don’t really have any strong feelings about her, other than she’s Harry’s wife and he loves her.

I appreciate the penis frostbite story though.
He doesn’t go into great detail about it at all. That whole chapter was more about how you are taught to dehumanize people during conflicts, and more importantly, how he tried to process his actions afterwards.
It’s a situation that a lot of soldiers go through when they return from action. And for a lot of them the solution is either substance abuse or suicide.

Yeah we know how he processed things, by writing a book!
Fair play to him though. Must feel good to walk away from that type of rigid institution. He doesn’t really have any other skills and he’s capitalizing on his name. Maybe he’ll take the book money, the Netflix money and just live for a bit.
Everyone should go to therapy.
Especially veterans.

I can understand completely why he felt the need to conduct interviews and write a book.
The situation he was in with his wife was portrayed in a way that he felt didn’t represent the truth. The media were dictating the narrative and in an objectively nasty way.
As a public figure (which he had no choice over), he wanted to tell his own version of events.
Just because he was born into the most backwards ass, stiff upper lip institution, doesn’t mean he has to abide by that. Just suck it up and get on with it. His own mother suffered in silence for a long time and it did untold damage on her mental health. He’s just a bloke with a wife ultimately, except he was getting railed by the media and had the opportunity to do something about it.
Good on him for having the courage to go against the institution and national media. Yeah he got paid for all of that, but that’s not the intention merely the byproduct. People are interested to know wtf happened, he’s a fucking prince after all! Monetising that, particularly after deciding to stop being a “working” Royal, that’s just looking after his family. Did people expect him to do it for free and then become a brick layer? Well I guess a lot of the British public did. Nothing he does will be good enough for some people.
I applaud anybody with the guys and bravery to make a stand when they want to do something as simple as protect their own family.

It is kind of fucked up to tell someone that the only reason they exist is to be an emergency option in case something awful happens to their family.

Friend sent me a pdf of Harry’s book because I am a cheapskate like that, and I have stayed up reading it. It is actually worth reading. There are obviously some parts where you need both sides of the story, but a lot of it is clearly completely genuine feeling and emotion. Can’t see how anyone can be against that.
Anyway, I recommend it.
