Max Dowman (56)

Should start next Saturday and the second leg vs Sporting.

Deserved to be on the winning side tonight. What a player we have though!

Dowman looked impressive when he moved centrally. There he was able to influence the game much more.

Very Ɩzil esque tracking back for the first Southampton goal one must say.

Said it before but we need to just play the kid. Whether it’s starting or decent bench minutes, he just needs to be involved.

We really shouldn’t be starting him in such a key period. There is no denying of the immense talent, he seems to have the mindset but it is not on pinning out hopes on a kid.

Havertz, Jesus and Odegaard are three of the highest earners in the league; Madueke is an international and earn World Champion. Saka is our highest earner and so called star boy. Step the fuck up.

Dowman is a great weapon off the bench.

I like that we’ve got another player who can clearly do the job in 3 maybe 4 positions as I think he could play as a deep-lying forward and left winger too.

I think the way forward is to try to have as settled a defence as possible and an attack that’s the complete opposite and can play in several positions in one match. It seems like a very commonsense approach to fucking with opposition defenders’ heads.

Didn’t get as much joy from his man this time. No surprise of course, even Madueke struggled.

Welcome to the CL kid!

He didn’t really have much time to affect the game give the kid a chance !? Still youngest English player to play in Champions League !! What age did Rooney get into CL ?

You were being serious? Madueke ripped him to shreds and Dowman was fouled at least 3 times.

Looked good when he came on again, always tries to take players on and go forward rather than the stale shit everyone else whips out.

Blew past 4 at one point then they had no choice but to bring him down.

Nice to see Scholes so concerned about what Dowman can do for England while completely ignoring what he could do for his club.

I don’t think the Everton game is going to be his last big moment this season.

He’s made his CL debut now, albeit as a substitute. He started the game before.

He’s already becoming one of the first attacking subs that Arteta makes.

That might change slightly when Saka is fit. However, he’s going to get another 5+ appearances and in there he is going to do something special.

Should get a start against Bournemouth, IMO.

I shouldn’t be surprised as these two seem to only talk complete shit whenever I see any clip, but still this is a bit baffling from people that I’d suspect hadn’t watched him play more than 7 games in their entire lives.

That season Lamal played at the Euros he’d already played most of the games for Barca in the league, so obviously he’s in the Spain squad after that.

I don’t want to do the lad down but I’ve not seen anything from him to suggest he’s on another level to any of the players he’d displace right now. The talent is up there and maybe in 2 years time at the Euros it might be true but not now.

Shame he got injured earlier in the season else he would have shown that he is equivalent to Yamal in terms of readiness to contribute for the national team

I have zero stake in England doing well and would rather have him take the summer ā€˜off’ instead of dealing with all that pressure, media/fan-nonsense, playing more minutes before the league starts again, perhaps a smaller (or no) pre-season if Engeland do well, etc.

He’s good enough to, but I don’t want him starting games for the rest of the season. Bring him on the last 20 or 30 minutes if we need a spark, absolve him of most of his defensive duties and watch him express himself.

I’m sorry but we’ve got players like Martinelli, Jesus, Odegaard, Madueke and Havertz that should be game changers off the bench, not a school boy.
