Matteo Guendouzi

It’s crazy how a 19 year old kid is showing up the rest of the squad.

yeah, the kid is great

The lads done great but probably been given to much game time. Such a pity there is nobody on the pitch to give him some guidance and help him develop quicker.

It’s a good time for him to get minutes and experience in the team, with expectations much lower in Emery’s first season :+1:

Yeah I wish we had more young talents milking this opportunity, giving us some glimmer of hope for the future in this write-off of a season.

Not sure why we/people keep referring to this season as a write-off of a season when we still have the Europa League to play for. Club hasn’t seen European success since 1994, direct Champions League qualification, it could convince nay-sayers to get behind Emery for a bit longer etc. etc. We are not Manchester United to just scrape off the Europa League like a consolation prize. Even if we want to believe it’s beneath us.

Yep, although wouldn’t you love to be in a Europa League that had the teams they had to face when they won it?

We could treat it like a consolation prize if we had such an easy path.

If we get the luck of the draw our path doesn’t have to be a lot harder.

Perhaps it’s a write-off season in terms of our league expectations, but as @SDGooner says, we can still achieve our aim of CL qualification through the Europa League. That needs to be our priority now because I simply can’t see us beating United and Chelsea to 4th spot.

We are only 3 points out and have had much harder start to second half of season. Can’t give up yet.

They both have harder games than us, more top 6 games, they have to play each other and United have to come to the Emirates too

Yeah that’s the thing, and our run in is fairly favourable.

We lose to teams like West Ham and Southampton. It’s not an easier run-in as far as I’m concerned when we keep dropping points to shit teams.

We’re chasing two teams that have better squads and more momentum than us. Our defence is utterly shite too, like really really bad. Maybe if we were chasing just one team but two? Can’t see us beating both of them to fourth.

Yeah agree here. Only have to look at the level of performance against Cardiff united and city and your measuring low minutes of good passages of play.
We are very much needing any unrest at Chelsea to grow and united to fall in the bigger fixtures. Need both them things happening and us finding the necessary form to take advantage.
Personally think united will one of the city or Liverpool games anyway.

Guendo is probably my favorite teenager we’ve had at the club since Cesc but with the state of affairs the way they are we have to think about selling.

Every other club that is fighting in the top 4 is selling at exuberant prices and reinvesting in 2-3 players for their first team. It’s about time we done the same. This summer it’s going to take about 200 million to reinvigorate this squad and 60 million would go a long way to funding that.

Of course like Oompa says if we don’t reinvest it then it’s completely pointless to even consider.

Wouldn’t sell. Not only is he a talent but he is gooner as well. We may have let some of our integral parts leave but let’s keep the guys that care about this club ffs.
