That is so far off the mark IMO. We have added quality players to the squad. I really can’t see how you can claim that quality has declined year after year.
Hmm well we still haven’t improved on the midfield trio of Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard, despite sending ~$200m+ in one positon, why is that?
Upfront is significantly worse imho. Saka’s improved. Everyone else has shit the bed or has declined. No signings of note made in those areas.
Back 5 appears to be where we’ve excelled imho. Raya, Timber, White, Gabirel, Saliba, Cala (except his injuries) are all ballers.
Rice has been a transformational signing for us. I’d take him over Xhaka any day. Rice has already had two very good seasons with Arsenal. Xhaka managed one.

I mean xhaka isn’t overly the point, he’d have been well on the wane 2 years on now anyway. It’s just the seemingly incoherent plan for the midfield, for me anyway.
If we’re not looking to push rice to 6 then keep one of Partey or Jorginho even to be backup to Zubi. Wouldn’t get me excited but would at least make some sense.

Up until this season we’ve been performing better year over year since Arteta took over.
This season we’ve had shitty luck, but even so up until recently were still very much in the PL title race and we’re still in the CL.
Should probably hold on making that statement until next season.

Absolutely, based purely on our final league postions and our ECL performances, Arteta is doing a far better job than Wenger did in his last 10 years.

I’m sure we’ll hear more about this if this has any legs. I do think the likelihood of Alonso taking over could be a decider, but it all depends if Real Madrid do in fact pursue him.
Madrid like Huijsen too but they won’t pursue him this summer.
