We competed once, yes. We are now serious contenders. In fact, many pundits have had us as favourites in the three seasons post signing Rice.
It is fair to suggest his transfer has seen a shift in not just performance but perception of others. We/he need to start lifting titles though or the 100m outlay can be questioned.
If with 30 games in youâre top of the table with 6 points ahead on City (who had one game in hand) you are a serious contender. As we would have been regardless if Rice would have been bought or another midfielder.

Possibly but the fact is since Rice has been here, it has been 2nd, 2nd, Champions League quarter final, Champions League semi final. Heâs has a notable impact here and weâre seen by people as favourites for the league and Champions League.

that is actually insane.
The media love to point out that we score a few of our goals from set pieces but conveniently ignore that Man City score nearly all their goals from Haaland.
They might not be a one man team but theyâre pretty close.

Some of their fans on blue moon think our playing style is a big loss for football lol all the state-owned stuff is fine though apparently
They also think their players donât dive but those from other clubs do.

At least our playing style includes having around ten different goal scorers this season but the Man City style is giving the ball to Haaland for him to score their goals.
But like you say, Man City supporters have a lack of self awareness about their success being bought by dodgy owners rather than being built from revenue from their fan base.

I find this criticism of our playing style extremely bizarre. Anyone who watches us would not say we are a boring team. We are facing the same issue every single week (including against City) where teams are parking the bus and refusing to take risks.
Even against Burnley yesterday there was opportunities for us to be 3 or 4-0 up by half time if not for some poor finishing from Saka.
Just seems to me like people are getting caught up in the set piece narrative and assuming our football must be boring
