This guy and Guen should be sitting deep with Ceballos(Ozil), Pepe, Laca, Auba rocking ahead of them.

Came on and got stuck in and he finished well. If he keeps up his performances from the 1st half of last season and along with Guendouzi and Willock, we could cause teams problems.

Yeah and I agree that is horrible, horrible, horrible signal for me… I was Emery out after last year, but I don’t feel the need to bash him on every thing every time if I see it differently.
Just like I was under Wenger (or tried to be).

I doubt he does…he will be the next casualty, as regards torriera he could have been used but isnt close to being ready i dunno why he was so late back he hasnt even had a preseason i reckon we will see the end of xhaka next season but cant change the entire squad in 1 window

My only hope is that he seems to have figured out Moose and a few other issues and doesn’t dither once he decides someone shouldn’t be starting… I pray that after a few games the other CM/DLP options squeeze him out - captaincy does not inoculate him from this (I f*ing hope).

I felt a bit sad seeing him playing the ramsey role, making late runs etc… One of the best holding/defensive midfielders in the league forced to play as an attacker.

Definitely Emery doesn’t fancy him at all, prefers Xhaka to him which I never understand. Seems like he’s probably a Raul signing that Emery wasn’t 100% on. He totally shaded him in the 2nd half of the season and you could see it effected the lad’s performances. I have him, Guendouzi and Ceballos as our midfield three, with Willock coming in and replacing one if injured or needing a rest.
A little worried that the manager continuing to play him out of position will lead to Lucas wanting to leave. He’s the guy the midfield should be built around not a one trick pony like Xhaka.
You should be fearing more that he may end up damaged goods. It was so nice seeing a young midfielder being so disciplined about defending BUT noooo Emery has to force him at #8. He already caught on bad habits last season.
Not sure it has anything to do with that. Like Sarri last season with Kante, both Sarri and Emery have this idea that playing their most ‘combative’ midfielder in a more advanced position helps the press and to recover possession. Both also opted for a playmaker in front of the defense. Now if you agree with that tactic is another discussion.
