Labour and Your Party

Not labour, but didn’t want to create a new thread. The far left get a completely free pass for this kind of rhetoric in the media.

No what is causing the rise of far left extremism no calling out or think pieces.

Its an incredibly minority view that hardly warrants comment beyond how ridiculous it is.

Enough of a view for her to be elected as an MEP.

Do you think everyone who voted for her agrees with that particular view then?

Edit: a bit 9f googling tells me the operate a list system and her parties vote share declined by about 70% between the 2019 and 2024 European election.

It’s a real silly view because she will find the minorities will vote for the right wing in higher numbers than the ‘natives’ in any case.

Also mass immigration is not good for workers, who may get undercut in a race to the bottom.

It is not worth engaging with these people.

What has an extremist view like that got to do with a centrist party like Labour or even a disorganised leftist mess like Your Party?

If she’s so keen to replace the people of Spain with people from other countries , she clearly doesn’t like her own country.

So wouldn’t it be easier to leave and go somewhere where she can surround herself with the foreigners she seems to prefer?

The idea the far left gets a pass in the largely billionaire owned media seems crazy to me. The Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail and countless other papers and online publications (the Murdoch empire globally) are always banging on about the dangers of “the far left”, and that’s obviously me just listing British outlets.

How are we defining “the media” to discount the many publications and papers like those above?

I mean if an MEP is going to get voted in with such extreme views you’d expect the voters to have at least a somewhat sympathetic view to them if that is they way you vote? We’re not talking about voting for a party but disagreeing with their school lunches policy here. Well good news her vote share has plummeted at least.

Yeah sorry I did say its not relevant, I wasnt sure where to put it? Happy for it to be moved.

True maybe getting a free pass was the wrong terminology. My point more stands on the weight of coverage it would get vs the far right. Was more alluding to this line of thinking

We are actually. That’s the list system the election was held under. You could easily like a large portion of a parties stances and think this one wasn’t very palatable but still decide that party represents you the best.

We’re also talking about an election that took place 18 months ago. Was this the position of the lady on question then or indeed is this the official stance of the party itself now?

As i say, we are dealing with an extreme and minority viewpoint here and one that holds no chance of becoming the common narrative or see anyone who expresses it in any sort of power.

Come on shammy what are we saying here? The parties ideological beliefs to displace half of a native country purely based on the way they vote isnt palatable but voters can look past it? :joy:

It is relevant and should be shot down far and wide especially as it is the view of an elected MEP. There’s no space to sweep it under the carpet and try and deflect away by saying its not going to happen so it dosnt matter.

I won’t rule out there being more to it, broad phenomena are rarely explained or caused by one single thing, but this could be something to do with the disparity in reporting in the UK

It seems to me that one of these types of extremism is more prevalent than the other, at least with regards to when it crosses over into violence and criminality.

It isn’t going to happen, it doesn’t really matter and it is widely rejected.

It’s not something over 99% of any population anywhere would give any credence too and you can’t use one European election (the least important election held in most EU states) where it’s not even clear that the party itself were spouting this view in advance of, to try and point to this as an issue.

It should just be dismissed as ranting nonsense and i have no problem in doing so.

I saw he resigned from Labour (lol he was still in it) but i didn’t care enough to click into the story.

Mandelson is so fucking odious.

Pantomime villain.

That gimp Keir Starmer is calling for Mandelson to be removed from the lords.

Starmer’s head should roll for appointing him as ambassador. Everyone knows Mandelson has always been a piece of shit

It’s a spectacular lack of judgement to have appointed him to such a key role. His position should definitely be in question.

Clearly mandelson must have been very buddy buddy with Trump via Epstein so Starmer probably thought he was being very clever in a cynical way but wow this has backfired
