I always thought Gibbs had the edge defensively and Monreal offensively. Plus, the former was made of glass.
Monreal really pushed on when he started partnering up with Alexis. They had a really good understanding.

I don’t see how those two were any close to similar.
One was a bull, one was a dancer (not a criticism).
One got poached by Sociedad, one got poached by Manchester City…
Although you could say one got poached at his peak while the other wanted to head home in his mid 30’s
