Kai Havertz (29)

wonder if he will show some more power in his play now that he has some muscle on him.

He should work more on his finishing as well. :grinning:

I do expect them to play together in certain games but if both are fit who do you think will be Arteta’s preferred choice for most games?

  • Havertz
  • Gyokeres

Havertz from the bench could be a very useful during a game, if Gyokeres laces come undone. :grinning:

Kai’s time here is coming to an end. He’ll start the season but it won’t take Gyokeres long to displace him.

Nah, Havertz still important member of the squad. My only issue is the wage he’s on in that role.

He definitely still has a part to play next season but for him, bring back up won’t be much fun if he aspires to be starting for Germany.

think he bulked up for this very reason, get some power in those damn shots and be able to hold off defenses.

This next season would be the season you’d start having discussions about extension of his contract as it’ll be two years remaning

I don’t think paying Ā£300k a week plus as an extension makes sense for someone who is backup status in my eyes, doesn’t make sense at all.

This was discussed in a BBC article by Mokbel actually. Apparently German clubs are monitoring the situation ahead of next summer when he’ll have 2 years left.

I think if Gyok hits the ground running and fires us to a title, then it could well be Havertz last season. He’ll be due for renewal in 12 months and given his wages; I think we should consider selling before he enters his last year.

Can’t us keeping him unless he’s willing to accept a drop in wages, there’s not really an incentive to increase his wages given his output this far tbh.

I think Havertz could leave at the end of this season if there is interest from other clubs. I don’t see him being offered a new deal at Arsenal when his current deal expires in 2028, and could see the club wanting to bring in a second striker as a replacement…dare I say Sesko

We were also linked with Alvarez briefly earlier this summer, so do wonder whether this is a player we will revisit next summer, particularly given the Berta links to the player.

Getting a bit ahead of ourselves aren’t we with this selling stuff? Let’s stack the squad first.

This is nothing new though

I think they’ll split time. Arteta is likely to trust Havertz more in the tougher games to start but Gyokeres will have every chance to stake his claim.

If we get a silly offer for Havertz then sell because Gyokeres, Merino and Jesus are enough cover.

If not, keep him for this season, then move him on and replace him with a young striker like Sesko, when Leipzig realise he’s not the world class striker they think he is.

Arteta paid Chelsea way over what Havertz is worth and making him our highest paid player was ridiculous so he’s easily replaceable with someone younger and cheaper.

Selling Haverz and having an injury prone Jesus and Merino as our backup strikers is a terrible idea

But replacing Havertz would be easy if another club gave us around 50m, especially as he’s our highest earner.

It’s unlikely Arteta would do that in this window because, for whatever reason, he thinks Havertz is a top quality player but after this season he might think about it if we got a really good offer.
