Jorginho (20)

If he’s happy with 5 games a season then fine but we should be buying 1 more midfielder next summer and, if we keep Partey, I don’t see where Jorginho gets the minutes.

People put up with Elneny for eons. At least Jorginho is actually useful.

No problem with us keeping him from a club standpoint, he’s about as good a squad player as you can get.

He’s only 32 and still got something to offer over a full season elsewhere, depends if he’s fine still being a backup here with limited minutes.

Aye, I didn’t mean to suggest that you had a problem with it. Was more a statement of fact.

ESPN Brasil are saying he was offered to Palmeiras and he would be open to join them now in January.
He’s willing to go back to Brazil for either Palmeiras or Flamengo.

Haven’t Palmeiras been chasing Pereira from Fulham? Saw somewhere they offered £20m for him… so wouldn’t be a surprise if they ended up with Jorginho

Did we offer him?

I think we need him. Our good run last season came with the introduction of him at 6 controlling the tempo and we’ve seen the last few games he’s one of the only ones trying to make things happen.

Weak defensively but we need incision more than anything atm and he brings some at least.

He and Kiwior both had a good run in the side during that period

Must be his representatives.

Yeah. That what I thought as well. If Palmeiras don’t get Pereira then I can see them actually considering this as a backup plan.

Although Chelsea had us over with the likes of Cech, Gallas, Luiz, Willian, Sterling, Havertz, etc, Jorginho was a pretty decent transfer and has been a solid midfielder who hasn’t really let us down and if he leaves on a free, at least we can afford the wages of a good replacement.

What does “controlling the tempo” even mean, he is slow and awful in duels if we want to press high he should be nowhere near the first 11. I also don’t get the fact that his age is somehow an alibi for his physical flaws, dude is 33, Modric wan Ballon d’or at the same age…

Me thinks we found a Jorginho hater.

If you can’t see how he was a big contributor to how we played particularly last season (this season I don’t think he’s been very good tbh) then it just won’t happen.

Now this season he’s not been great when starting, but he is a midfielder who has the vision to make critical passes to unlock a defence. Even the other day we had a couple of examples when he came on, trying to dink balls over the top of the defence.

We only have Odegaard, Jorginho and Partey who really do that at all. So wouldn’t let him go in Jan.

He must’ve seen that awful performance from him against Brighton.

I dunno, he’s always been a conflicting player. Personally, I like what he brings to the locker room, especially with some of our younger player, he’s a good head to have in the locker room.

I do wonder if we’d be willing to cash in on him now if someone does make a good offer, given this will be our last chance to do so and his current spot in the pecking order.

Jorginho brings more value to Arsenal off the pitch than on it imho.

This isn’t to discredit him at all, he’s clearly got a great head on his shoulders and would be an excellent mentor to the lads when they’re going tough times and stretching themselves for league titles.

His legs are gone, it’s not his fault but it is what it is.

That strike against Villa 2 seasons ago will always be remembered.

Not sure if we really want to sell, but getting that 10m is not helping anything.
We need Jorgi on and off the field than the peanuts in the bank.

I really hoping he’s making way for another midfield bargain.

Jorginho is still a good player. The only way this should be entertained is if Rice and Partey become our deeper midfielder, with maybe MLS as back up and we bring in competition for Merino. Or the dream of rotate between Havertz and Merino and buy a bonafide striker.

If none of this happens, keep Jorginho as he’s a useful option.
