James Bond Thread

James Bond fans were shaken and stirred Tuesday night.

Daniel Craig officially confirmed he will return to the role of Agent 007 in the upcoming Bond 25 on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday. Craig had previously been attached to the project by reports from the New York Times and others, but never confirmed personally — until his appearance on Colbert’s show.

“Yes,” Craig told Colbert point-blank, when asked if he will return as the secret agent. He said he’s known he would reprise the role for “a couple of months” now.

Wonder who will direct the next one. Some rumors say it’s Christopher Nolan.

I hope it’s Martin Campbell.

He does the BEST Bond movies. Take it all back to Casino Royale for one last hurrah.

Don’t know how I’d feel about Nolan, he’s not really a “bond” director in my eyes.

Agreed. I question if he could really make a Bond film his own.

I tend to find Bond films are lately just lazy Sunday afternoon movies.

Would love to see Nolans take on it all.

Whoa that branding is amazing. That’s going to be a proper iconic poster/film name in the future I think.

Bond has never passed the torch has he?

They always reboot it with a new actor a few years later

They need to reboot it and go back to the campy humor, not so serious Bond of the 70s/80s. Bond takes himself far too seriously nowadays and there’s absolutely nothing to distinguish the franchise from any other run of the mill action flick.

I think there was definitely a time and a place for Craig’s gritty Bond after how campy it had become, especially with Bourne trilogy doing so well and Austin Powers making so much fun of Bond.

It needed a dark reboot and executed it very well, but the Kingsman has now shown that there is very much still a place for campy, over the top spy movies.

Hopefully they make sure she’s a proper minority with disabilities and everything

I would love to reboot bond and go back to a 60/70s setting no gadgets or tech just a simply spy thriller

Bond has never really been just a simple spy thriller though, it always had these crazy story lines.

Agreed though, I would love a 60s setting.

Man From UNCLE really nailed it.

Bond was rebooted in amazing style with Casino Royale and then fell off a cliff with Bourne Quantum. Skyfall meh. Spectre kinda good but weak. I don’t even wanna watch this new one.

My faves are the Connery/Lazenby era and a bit of the Moore, plus Goldeneye.
