I think he did but it was in games where he didn’t play.
These included 13 bets on his own club to lose, although Toney was not involved in those games. In 11 cases the bets were against Newcastle while he was on loan elsewhere and the other two relate to a Wigan v Aston Villa match while he was on loan at Wigan but not in the squad.
That’s really strange. I’m all for supporting a player through a tough time but the guy got busted for a gambling problem. He didn’t break his leg or take a hiatus because of mental health.

8 months out and it’s like he never missed a bit. Came straight back in and played 100+ mins due to the stoppage time.
He wasn’t injured though.
Not that surprising.
Thoughts on his free kick after moving the foam and the ball? Is it cheating or just one of those “push the boundary” things that players do.
It’s blatant cheating, but Forest just stood there and watched it happen, and said nothing. He didn’t just move the ball, it certainly appears that he was moving some of the foam which marks where the ball should be as well.
I would have walked up to the ball and prevented it being taken, and when the ref approached, told him what’s going on.
Or just shout at your teammates to move the wall. Do something.
It is cheating but it actually happens very often and it never gets any attention.
I do think it’s something that in the future should be looked at closer in these type of situations where it directly influences a goal.
Definitely cheating, look where the referee used his spray around the ball… he should’ve picked up on it being moved and told Toney to retake… or make it a free kick to the opposition
He’s better than Jesus in terms of being a goal threat no question. Hasn’t lost a single step in being out. Him and Jesus in the same team could be lethal with their excellent hold up and link play abilities. No chance we can pull it off but would love Arsenal to sign him. Would allow a viable alternative to Saka and Martinelli on the wings (Jesus) and the occasional two striker system.
I can’t see how Toney moving the ball is any worse than the freekick wall creeping forwards when the referee isn’t watching.
Or when a FK is awarded anywhere and the taker moves the ball forwards. Or taking a throw in metres ahead of where the ball went out.
Happens constantly. It is technically cheating because you’re not adhering to the laws of the game…but referees allow it to slide the majority of the time.
It’s incumbent upon the ref or defending team to do something about it.
Toney certainly knows where the goal is and takes every opportunity to score but with our sometimes slow and often elaborate build up play, would he fit into our system?
If Arteta wants to use Toney in a more direct style of play, there must be cheaper strikers that can come here as alternative when we’re struggling to get a goal.
So unless he wants him as a starting striker it seems unlikely this will happen, although for around 40m it would be worth a punt but anything like the 100m being talked about, let Chelsea or Man U have him.
You mean in January?
Meh, if it wasn’t him doing it there’d be no fuss made.
FACTS! Some people just do not like Toney.
Our king played handball with a football during a World Cup qualifier. Toney moving the ball a few inches is barely anymore more serious than a player taking a few extra yards for a thrown in.
Turner didn’t set up his wall properly.
Don’t like the fact that Henry did that but that was more instinctive. He didn’t go into that situation thinking he could use his hand. Toney’s was more deliberate. Splitting hairs maybe.
And it’s not the same as regular free kicks and throw-ins because in those situations, the referee doesn’t mark the spot with foam as he doesn’t really care if the ball/throw-in is moved a little. But when the foam is used to mark a spot, and you change that, to me that’s cheating and I wouldn’t wany any of our players doing that. It’s the same as scuffing the penalty spot with your studs. It’s underhanded and not what you want to see in the game.
He’s a very good striker but his reputation for cheating has just got worse after his first game back after a ban for cheating.
He clearly moved the ball after Forest had already set up their wall and although it’s not the worst offence, he’s got himself in a situation where he’s being ridiculed by the media, which isn’t a great advert for someone so obviously putting themselves in the shop window.
What he did with the spray is not cheating ffs.
Every single player tries to take a throw in or free kick closer or someone tries to move closer to block the ball
I’ve never seen someone try and pick up the spray off the pitch and move it to reposition the ball. It is absolutely cheating lol.
