A call up is nice, but 2nd division Germany to EPL is quite a leap. Let’s hope he is playing some Europa/Cup games when Arsenal are playing clubs whose names sound like a medical condition/side effect.
Surprising if Hector & AWN are both gone in the same window.
idno but we keep fucking around with defenders and wingers and imo our midfield is still just a smidgen away from a Guti - Figo - Zidane - Beckham midfield (by the narrowest of margins).
Can’t really see it… only possible theory of the case would be Cedric, backed up by both Chambers and Osei… but yeah that seems like a step back from AMN/Bellerin.
If it means that Arsenal would be able to sign two of three proper midfielders I’d go for it. If we can improve in that area significantly Soares for Bellerin would matter less.
wtf we clearly can’t sell our two home grown younger right backs within a couple of weeks and play that one guy who kind of just started hanging out with our clique in the middle of last season and if he does his ankle, then what, Chambers at RB?
Whenever i hear of a player being offered, i just think to myself the club just wants rid and ANY team will do. Its sorta like ‘please just get out anywhere will do i will call around and see if anyone is stupid enough to take you.’
We got Osei-Tutu he’s physically a beast (bags of pace) He actually had a better season on loan than ESR did offensive wise, so I guess if ppl are thinking ESR should be included in our team and play a role then Osei-Tutu should definitely be considered there as well. Since we are going full fifa career mode I imagine Arteta could transform Nelson into a pretty decent RB too tbh.
Might wanna rethink that one homeboy - JOT is apparently going on loan to Cardiff for a year. Probably will get sold after that. He’s 22 in October so hardly a youth prospect anymore.
To be fair to Hector, he finished the season strongly. Went on a few marauding runs which we haven’t seen in a long fucking time. Pépé also had arguably his best ever game for us in the FA Cup final which bodes well for those two partnering up on the right side.
On paper, it looks and feels good to have Bellerin in the starting XI. That’s probably a lingering state of mind from his breakout year in 15/16 where he was the best RB in the league.
He’s definitely not as quick as he used to be and I’ve been a detractor for a while now, but he’s shown enough improvement under Arteta for me to be content with his position in the team. AMN wasn’t going to be happy simply competing for the RB spot so it doesn’t surprise me that we’ve decided to sell him.
Soares as backup RB is really, really underwhelming though. He does provide cover at LB and he has the right age profile (we lack experienced players in defence if you factor in how many cunts we might sell this window) but hopefully he sees mainly Europa League and Cup action.
I’m giving Hector another chance based on the upward curve he’s on. He’s not Bellenderin for the time being.
I look at Bellerin and Soares almost the same, two back up level RB’s that simply aren’t good enough to start for a top club. I mean we’re talking progress here being him going on a couple of runs.
He’s going to have a decade or more here off of the back of peak athleticism that’s a distant memory and one good season, sounds about right for us.
