As I mentioned above, I think Saka needs match fitness before Newcastle. He’ll get 45-60 mins tonight. Dowman’s been playing with the U21s and is match fit.
Yeah I expect Saka to go off early in the second half.

Cruel of us to give Port Vale both barrels by putting Merino up front.
Could’ve brought on Saka for the last 25 minutes to give him match fitness. Nah, Mikel is just afraid we might suffer an upset is all. Should’ve started Dowman imo. Apart from that, lineup pretty much as expected.
