We actually kind of played this minus Cesc in 13/14 where we had Flamini/Arteta instead of Cesc. And we played allot of teams off the pitch with it before Ramsey, Ozil and Wilshere got injured. Cazorla was on the left, Wilshere on the right, With Arteta/Flamini and Ramsey behind Ozil.

I haven’t heard a positive thing about his stint at Fulham. Would sign him on a very reduced fee and give him a shot but if we’re taking anyone from the grasp of another PL club I’d much rather it was Tielmans or even Gomes.

He was a baller at Nice, but who knows maybe his toe issues are real. Although like I said, on paper he’s still outperforming our midfielders, on a bad team, under a manager who shit the bed this season.
I know it’s too late for that. That was kind of my point. Instead of building around those two we’re stuck with Xhaka.
Personally I see him as a profile of midfielder we lack. Dunno if Fulham will sell him tho. They seem determined to keep their players and come back to the PL with their side more gelled up.

He’s an interesting prospect. A real powerhouse athlete with decent ball control and looks like a defensive blocker. I know it’s the third tier of English football but he reminds me of Paddy V

I meant it more for midfielders, but yeah Smalling is definitely up there all positions included 
True, him and Mustafi have weirdly always delivered against Chelsea.
Least dynamic professional football player I’ve ever seen. He has to stand so far off players in midfield because if he attempts to defend it’s so easy to move right past him. He’s one of the reasons why we are always sp easy to break down. On their first goal he wasn’t even in the frame. Need a massive upgrade here.
