The highly respected Dan Gryder is siding with Captain Steeeeeeve’s theory. That the closest engine switch to the Captain (who was monitoring and wasn’t flying the aircraft) was pulled-out first makes it look very sinister. Premeditated murder suicide seems likely.
EDIT - Are you a flight simmer? I’m still on the more stable MSFS2020.
Little known fact about Captain Steve was he was going to pilot one of the doomed 9/11 plane’s but someone else got the first officer’s seat just before him
Yes got into it about 10 years ago i find it very therapeutic. I got fs24 beginning of the year and bought Turtle Beach rudder pedals and Honeycomb throttle from the US.
I never thought I would turn into a full on geek lol
Just watched the Dan Gryder video and the whole 10 second delay and the 4 second delay between the first and second fuel switches is baffling. I don’t think anyone is saying it although undoubtedly it was premeditated i wonder if because of the delays there was a bit of a struggle
The apparent calmness of the “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday” from the Captain when he knew he was about to die. That was chilling too.
Most of the passengers will have been aware that something was up but probably didn’t expect imminent death but the pilot flying must have had a thousand emotions going through his head knowing they were going to crash.
I doubt many of the passengers would have been aware only those looking out the windows or paying attention to the sound of the engines due to the very short time from the engines shutting down and the crash.
But as I was typing this I just thought about the statement from the lone survivor mentioning the loud bang, which was the RAT being deployed was maybe what 30 seconds? So maybe the passengers thought there was something up
I thought that, you’re probably right as the survivor wouldn’t have been too far from where the RAT deploys, the other possibility I guess it could have been the landing gear hitting a roof before the main impact, though that would have caused a movement too.
Either way, horrific and it goes to show that the safest seat on the plane isn’t based on location, just luck.
This has to go way beyond luck this was a miracle.
Just to bring a bit of levity the best place to sit on a plane has got to be next to the black box, it always survives.
Apologies in advance to anyone who has lost someone in an aeroplane disaster to my comment which can be construed as bad taste.
In light of MH370, Germanwings 9525, the Air India disaster there’s a clear need to focus on the mental health of pilots. That’s three massive air crash disasters in the last 11 years caused by a pilot.
Think there might have a Chinese Airlines flight in that time period too.
I think there’s the idea that pilots would lose their license if they’re admitting to mental health problems or are struggling coming to terms with it. But I know American airlines have had a scheme in place for a number of years to counsel pilots, so I’m assuming there are other airlines doing the same
