Oh god yes. Some upmarket new buildings only have one emergency staircase, no sprinklers, very little redundancy for adverse loads or earthquakes.

My most recent Asian case was in Bangkok where a skyscraper had to be dismantled. Corners had been cut and it turned-out to have been built to lower earthquake protection standards and didn’t have a fire-proof escape stairwell (like the old Twin Towers in NYC) or enough of them (like the old Twin Towers in NYC), back-handers were involved (like the old Twin Towers in NYC) and we kicked the $65m claim out because of the blatant corruption.

Which is exactly what I suspect with that latest tower collapse. Government building, government contracts…

Brilliant news. Time for the HMRC to start investigating Farage’s offshore savings accounts and working out where most of his money comes from*.

*A little hint for the HMRC, it was Russia.

HMRC: So you’re saying Farage is above board and we should spend our time targeting low income households with dubious claims of unpaid tax and burying anyone who objects under a mountain of jargon. That’s just what we were thinking!

Last time someone tried to look into Farage’s finances the CEO of NatWest was forced to resign lol

That’s a hell of a choice of last words.

Reading the quotes in the BBC over Le Pen is interesting.

France’s PM isn’t happy about it, French far left isn’t happy about it, former leader of the centre-right isn’t happy about it.

Not the…reactions I was expecting. Starting to think quite a few French politicians might be guilty of shit and this decision spooks them.

See what happens in the appeal I guess.

What she has been done for does sound like the type of thing politicians have routinely done with EU and national money for decades. Unless I’m misunderstanding something which is possible given i wasn’t aware there was a trial.

No one was looking deeply into anything. Her resignation was about Farage’s Coutts account being shut down because he didn’t have enough money in it.

Alison Rose, the CEO of Natwest, was the source.

In news that will surprise nobody…

The moment he started using his audience-reach to become a conspiracy theorist it was clear he was doing the groundwork in readiness to dismiss any serious allegations as being the “deep state”.

It’s a common tactic. See Andrew Tate, Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein et al.

EDIT: I see he’s in hiding in the USA. Trump protects sex pests, so long as they support him.

So the bin strike in Birmingham could apparently be solved for a fraction of the cost that the council are spending on security, agency fees and other fees to fight the strike lol.

There is such a strong resistance to just pay people more money for the work that they do it’s unbelievable.

I’m glad the workers continue to strike and hope the strike continues for as long as it needs to until they’re paid more money.

Of course. It’s like this with a lot of industrial action.

I guarantee the council are thinking that it’s cheaper to fight in the long run, because if they give in to one strike then they believe there are more on the horizon.

Same playbook as Milo. Went to the US and embraced the Christian right.

Then, bizarrely, started selling magical amulets for 200 quid.

And a strong instinct to pay people less based on inflation.

And the prices never go down and salary alway go up in set increments.
