The headline was obviously a big fucking clue, but I knew that the levels of melodrama in that article would be hilarious.
I tend to agree that very little will change, in all likelihood, if I had to guess. Lefty hysteria about him taking over and the opposite side rejoicing at the ascendant free speech king will likely end up looking a bit silly for their premature takes.
But at the end of the day, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. I was happy to tell the MAGA lot and adjacent crowds to find a new platform if they didn’t like the moderation policies of a private company, so if Musk RIPs twitter as we know it they should move elsewhere.
I don’t particularly care what ultimately happens, I don’t even have a twitter account, that’s how low the stakes ultimately are for me lol

I do wonder why Twitter never tried to monetize until Onlyfans & Substack come into the picture.
The whole ‘maintain users over revenue’ has come back to bite them big time.
The reason Twitter is what it is, is because it’s free. Other than ads, it’s very difficult to monetize.
Elon Musk didn’t even begin and he laid down fair few ideas to monetize twitter
- Charge institutes
- Charge blue ticks
- Allow subscriptions (which is already happening)
- Allow premium features like edit (which is also happening)
