@JakeyBoy the more I read about the police response to this, the more devastating it becomes.
For a town that small to even have a SWAT team is ridiculous to being with, but if they do, the fact that they allegedly waited around or, in one article I read, went into the building to retrieve their own children before trying to help others, is just insane.
It just crystalizes how dumb the argument of adding more guns to schools, adding more police to schools is in my eyes. This school had a whole police force, they had a wall/fence, it didnât matter. And if people want to go down the road of arming teachers? Well think of your teachers. Do they have the skill or ability to learn how to carry out essentially guerrilla warfare inside a school during an active shooter event? I mean, seriously. Itâs just laughable. They want to try everything other than having fewer guns because theyâre afraid it will work.
Yes and no. Democrats have won more of the popular votes in the last presidential elections than republicans over the last few rounds but the electoral college system warps the weight of those votes.
If you look further down to the state level you have something similar happening with gerrymandered districts.
And although I donât understand gun culture or the desire to own a gun even for hunting, I believe even most gun owners want laws on the books to ensure responsible gun ownership.
Itâs the very noisy and very extreme group of idiots who think that they have to own an AR15 because their father never hugged them as a child and explained that itâs okay for men to feel sad sometimes and talk about it.
Itâs 90% culture imo but that doesnât mean you shouldnât take reasonable measures to limit access to guns
No one wakes up one morning a say he wants to kill a bunch of kids. These events represent a further breakdown of the community and familial structures
Thatâs only half of it. Parents pleading for them to do something then wanted to intervene themselves but they were stopped and handcuffed. Thereâs police comms audio missing of the important time also, and it seems that this Uvalde lot are pretty similar to Scott Israel and the Parkland bunch in terms of poor/dodgy leadership of local law enforcement. The press conference yesterday was also a disaster because it was found out a whole load of misinformation was stated by law enforcement after the event, for example there was no armed guard at the school even though they were saying there was one earlier.
(I donât know why I do this anyway, itâs wasted on most here)
Makes the club look even worse for distancing themselves from Ozil when he tried to raise awareness of this. The same for Elneny and the Palestine issue.
The hilarious thing is football as a whole has been all over the Ukraine issue but has totally distanced themselves from any criticism of China and the CCP.
