This is pretty common in the software industry, at least here in India. The most frustrating part is when people have a 2 or 3 month notice period (again, common in the software industry in India) in their current job, and take up another job, make their new employers wait for 3 months, and then ditch them to join someone else. Has happened to my team so many times. You end up taking multiple months to hire 1 person.
This is one of the effects I absolutely loved witnessing.
Started of with few players trying to sabotage job opportunities of the employees(whatever maybe the official reason) by applying 2-3 months notice period which got propagated across the industry and now every software firm is fucked.
I have seen multiple QAs come and abscond within one week and it is becoming increasingly difficult for software firms to hire employees now. I have seen work impacted and projects delayed for this very scenario.
It’s not just during the notice period. Even during probation period, if someone receives a good offer and a joining bonus, they abscond.
Long may it continue till they drop this stupid multi month notice period bullshit

Won’t be long until people willingly volunteer to place themselves in some kind of Matrix/Nexus/Metaverse permanently and disregard the physical reality
