Gabriel Jesus (9)

So my point is that if Conte was such a great manager, they should have secured top 4 weeks before the end of the season. We had a very small squad of players which we were 100% reliant upon at the end of the season. Let’s not forget that Spurs were top after 3 games and we were bottom. a 9 point advantage at the start of the season. I know Conte was not the manager then, but I am just saying.

And disagree with you about Arteta. We pulled off some greats wins and performances this season. We have a good style of play. Newcastle performance was bad but cannot blame it all on Arteta.

Arteta has been here 3 years, Conte was with spurs for 6 months. Yikes cmon dont be such a fanatic. And this is the guy talking about having perspective :woozy_face:

You haven’t answered my post above…think it shows you aren’t consistent in your view and how you flip flop to suit your narative and agenda!

The numbers can be worrying, especially with Arteta’s history but the I doubt it’s that far off the market rate.

So not too worried

Yeah ur right about the price. Arteta will do nothing or very little with him, which is going to make his market price drop like a rock. A dood who’s never scored a ton of goals even on city will come here and look worse.

On the flip side tho having him on the team post Arteta, once the cone boi is sacked, might be helpful if we ever fall ass backwards into a half way decent manager.

But following this example through, dude, Spurs were dire by the end of Nuno’s tenure. Conte did revilatise them and those performances against the top 2 (5 points) while we got 0 points against them by doing the same thing over and over again still rankles with me.

Agree with the first part of this but not the second. Yes, doubles over Villa, West Ham, Leicester and Wolves were great. Will we get 24 points from those fixtures again next season? I doubt it (which is why I was willing the team through to 4th- we’re not going to see results like this in a long time)

The performances, though…I disagree. Having been at some of the aforementioned games, they all followed the same format. Get the first half goal (or goals at the Kingpower) and then rest on your laurels. Let the opposition throw whatever they have at you. Hugely risky tactic and it didn’t make for good watching.

Out of interest (and genuine question)- how long would you give Arteta next season? Would you want him to be in 4th at a certain point next season? If we finish in 5th, would you want to say goodbye?

Conte from the moment he got there on matchday 11 averaged 2 points per fixture. Context is that he took over a very underperforming attacking duo in Son and Kane, and a not so good overall team. If he’d been there to start the year they finish about 10 points ahead of us based on the 2 points per match. Do you think Spurs squad as a whole is better than Arsenal?

Conte didnt have his team firing on all cylinders until about february so there was a 4 month bedding in period where spurs were still struggling. After all of that he still comfortably finished ahead of us, and to add insult to injury basically clinched top 4 by absolutely demolishing cone boi head to head. It’s actually quite embarassing for Arsenal and if I were you I’d be pissed off instead of twerking for such a shocking club.

So completely respect your opinion here, especially as I know you have been to some of the away games. I agree with you about Spurs and their fixtures against the top 2. Both of them are attacking teams, but this plays into Conte’s counter attacking style so the results are not unexpected. I think we were very unlucky at home against City. We really did not deserve to lose that game against them.

As for next season, really good question and the answer at the moment is I don’t know. It will depend how we get on in the transfer window, but I maintain that if we repeat the success from last summers window, we should be getting top 4 next season and back into the CL. Ultimately with every manager there is a time we need to say goodbye but I still have faith in Arteta and Edu and the project and looking forward to next season.

I think it was slightly later, mate. They were still on a weird-ass WLWLWL cycle then.

In actual fact, we could have benefited from them having about 4 draws in a row. Fewer points. A strange unbeaten run woulda been nicer for us.

Another stupid comment. I think you have more than hit your quota for today!

@DavidHillier like many on here goes and supports Arsenal, so yes I value his opinion and make no apologies for that. This really should be a forum for real fans rather than self-appointed keyboard warriors with an agenda from the US that are probably better off watching American Football.

I didnt word it right. They werent playing how a conte team typically plays until February. What I meant is that it took him a few good months to instill his style of play on his guys.

You’ve exposed urself here my dood. Honestly it’s kinda sad this coming from one of the most deluded posters on this forum. Just for future reference this kind of stuff is why ppl laugh at the Arsenal fan base and how absolutely deluded/clueless the majority of them are.

Ahh I’m loving this bliss discussion @The_Invincibles is having. Love the ignore function!

Oh no. Some other football fans are laughing at us.

I should ignore him I know. I just wanted to call him out though as getting fed up with his agenda.

The deluded aspect of it is quite embarassing. You have a lot of bad qualities sham but for all of them at least ur realistic :+1::+1:

I don’t have any issue with us signing G. Jesus if we sign another striker too. If he’s the only attacking option we purchase this summer, we’re fucked.

£190k/week is insane given what he was earning at City. However, we did free up the wage budget with Laca and Auba moving on.

I am a little concerned though, we’re plopping a ton of money (I presume) on a striker who’s never scored 15+ league goals in a season before. Here’s hoping he’s coming to Arsenal to do just that.

Apart from the 4-goals he scored near the end of the season, has anyone here actually watched him play? If so, would you class this as a good signing for Arsenal?
