Freddie Ljungberg

Not gonna lie, that did make me chuckle :joy:

One good thing that might come of this disappointing result.

The board may be compelled to quicken their pace in the search for a new manager

I think Ljungberg team selection was shocking and his decision to bring on Saka and bring Xhaka/Mustafi back into the foray were abominable decisions.

But he’s interim boss so it doesn’t matter I guess

Yeah, I would like to say that anything I’ve said today on Ljungberg’s coaching ability, positive or negative, was 99.9816% tongue in cheek.

Bizarre team selection and the substitutions were infuriating quite frankly, but it’s his first match so I’m okay with it.

He isn’t going to come in and all of a sudden we turn into Liverpool. Let’s be real a lot of our squad isn’t good enough, and it wasn’t just down to Emery’s bad management with a lot of them. I think defensively and midfield wise we’re going to be the same for the whole season. I don’t think Ozil is going to do much for us. Auba and Laca like last season if they don’t down tools again will carry us.

If he can get this lot playing in the Europa League and get us going in a FA Cup run. Pick up the PL form then it might end up not been a complete downfall. But Freddie won’t change much sadly. I hope the fan’s don’t turn on him, but I wouldn’t be so sure.

Lol, you really think our cheap fucks don’t hope that Freddie does a passable job so that they won’t have to fetch someone mid-season? In fact, they may even give him the job for a passable job.
They did consider extending Emery’s contract after all. :man_shrugging:

Irregardless of whether they should get a quick replacement or not I thought that in 2 days work they looked very much better in possession moving the ball with much more purpose and speed. Defensively still very poor but less to do as our possession was better.

Overall a surprisingly good start for Freddie in his interim role in my opinion.

What was good about it? We basically just tried to play football which is what you’d expect any coach to do.

The team selection, in game decisions and subs were horrible.

Just shows how shit we’ve been under Emery tbh, we were decent in spells that’s about it.

Ljungberg will have some time at least to show his impact

I want to rip my eyes out of their sockets when I see the manager of this team select Granit Shitter Scrub Xhaka. The interview process for the next manager should simply be submitting their best starting xi, and if Xhaka is omitted they should get the job.

Missed the game but there’s no way he should be getting criticized for bringing on Saka instead of Pepe

Arguable I’d say, but certainly Martinelli was a better choice?

Saka brings pace and width and pressing, it makes sense to bring on a winger of his type when you’re chasing a goal, especially when you have a poacher like Auba at striker

“of his type” yeah, but he really hasn’t been doing much recently and is very young still - personally I’d put Martinelli in there over him right now… Martinelli had 4 minutes and probably helped create the best chance we had towards the end.

Massive improvement in itself

What does this mean?

LOL was going to say something b/c that got me triggered as well… depends on your viewpoint, but certainly AT BEST the IR prefix is redundant. Some would argue (including me) there is no such word as “irregardless,” but hey ho.
