The good news is you can’t ignore me as a mod

Fair enough.

You upset because you lost a duel.

It weren’t even you to be fair!

Thank you Jules for the assist.

Nah it’s obviously @Hass, he’s a great guy though!

It doesn’t work on mobile phones. Laptop will be back on tomorrow though.

Anyway, so for derailing the topic. Vieira to assist vs Oxford…

It does work on phones, trust me I’ve used it on mine lol

I don’t know what happened pal!

How do you feel about Vieira?

Tbf Vieira looked quite good against Wolves, also in that game against Brendford a while ago where he started and scroed that brilliant goal.
Those are two only PL games where he was seriously involved, he basically started both.

Aside from that really didn’t offer anything in Europa or cups… Idk what to say. Maybe he doesn’t feel motivated enough in those competitions or he just plays better when surrounded with better players.

I’m still giving him some credit, there is some ability there, but I’m definitely disappointed to some extent and expected him to offer more at this point and be a more serious squad player by now.

Then again, we saw with Eddie… I guess it’s just not easy to get into proper groove and show everything you have when you’re getting garbage time in the league and play in cups with mixed/weakended teams that just don’t have the flow of our starting XI. That’s why I always want to see guys like them more involved in the league when we have a comfortable result (as against Brighton :grimacing: ), geting a half and hour or 20 minutes… But Arteta mostly gives them like 5-10 mins, and they barely get two touches on the ball and don’t get properly warmed up in those cases.

That’s very fair. Vieira has probably been a victim of our early success in many ways. We don’t know if we can call upon him because we haven’t needed to.

He would need an opportunity like Eddie is getting now in order to prove himself.

It’s as simple as young talented player from vastly inferior league needs time to develop as a player and physically. Shocking claim I know.

Guess we don’t play Mudryk then if we buy him this week?

Well physically he looks as good as there is so maybe he adapts easier. But even if we sign Mudryk it would be a giant step up so I’d be hesitant in expecting him to slot in with no problems.

Horses for courses. Development isn’t linear and not every young player is alike. What Vieira needs isn’t necessarily what Mudryk, or another player, will need.

Plenty of validity in an argument on an overseas player having settling in issues.
However it’s still disappointing when a major investment player and seen as a strong squad option isn’t really available to play.
Compounded really by the fact we started the season with a squad short on numbers.

I hoped to see more from him by this stage, but it might be time for us all to recalibrate what constitutes a major investment in this day and age.

30 odd million is probably equivalent to spending just 15m a few years ago, and is probably the kind of sum big clubs like us are gonna pay for promising young players who aren’t necessarily ready to go straight into the first team.
