Ethan Nwaneri (53)

As it stands with ESR and Fábio going, he’s currently the 2nd choice no 10 behind Odegaard in a team that’s aiming for the title ? Huge show of faith in a 17 year old if it remains that way.

Who said he’s going?

based by my observation and understanding from the pre-season, I think Nwaneri is not yet ready for the back up for Ode, at least Arteta will not do it this season.

in case Ode cannot play, I think the first to step up is Kai (we like it or not). Recently the chemistry in between him and Saka shows that possibility.
After signing Merino, our midfield rotation will be Rice, Kai, Merino, Partey, Jorgi (and Nwaneri).

the rumor of signing a striker makes sense to me.
Jesus’ health is a question mark; Trossard is another year older; and we need one more if Kai plays in midfield.
Admit it or not, Kai is one of the players that has locked down the starting position, just depends where he will play.

Nwaneri, will get his play time gradually when the season goes on.

If Kai has to play the 10 as a secondary option, we absolutely need to sign another attacking option for the front 3.

we don’t have 10, just two 8s

Im almost certainly overthinking this…but i reckon he could start against spurs.

Like in the midfield?

Nwaneri - Partey - Odegaard?

Yep. Just a feeling.

I am on board with that, even though I think chances are slim

Had it not been Spurs or City away and Jesus was still out, I could have seen it.
We know Arteta prioritizes defensive stability in these games so I doubt he’ll go with that.

Most likely scenario is Havertz being pulled back into midfield like it happened against Brighton when Rice got sent off, and Wolves when he started cramping.
For me the questions for those games is who starts LB, LW and ST.
It also wouldn’t shock me to see Timber/Tomiyasu(if he recovers) start at RB considering White’s form.

Time for Nwaneri to truly arrive. He’ll be up for it if he starts, great opportunity to show everyone what he’s made of.

Not NLD, not a game with a magnitude like this.

Start him vs Bolton in the cup. See where he’s at.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he scores and assists against them lot. (Spurs)

That sounds like a game more suitable for him.

No way he starts against Spurs. Would be pretty surprised to see him even appearing in such a game.
He’s a talent, but let’s be real, he hasn’t had a meaningful PL (or even a cup) appearance yet.

That would be a grand entrance but I don’t see Arteta starting him or even bringing him on for a significant minutes in the NLD.

If we manage to go 3-0 up within 30 mins again then he might have a chance haha.

Given how we ended up having to hang on to the lead, I doubt it.
