Compare him to someone like Kane.
Kane doesn’t score as many goals as him but he would score more than enough for City to win the league and at the same time, (as Kane has shown with Tottenham) he can make the team play well regardless of the shitters around him or shitty managerial decisions.
I don’t expect Haaland to come deep but he should find a way to influence the game when his teammates are not able to find him.
It’s not really an argument, Kane is a superior all round player
However, even he would struggle in this City team.
Regarding Haaland Pep needs to ask more from him because Haaland should be capable of offering more. He demanded more of Aguero and Lewandowski and both were better players for it
Seems reluctant to do the same with Haaland for some reason
The guys got 194 goals in his last 210 games and 38 in 39 for Norway how much more of an influence does he need to have on games lol
Criticising strikers who score a ridiculous number of goals for not being as well rounded as players who don’t score as many goals is pretty ridiculous in my eyes.
He’s an absolute goal scoring machine the job of the manager and the creative talent is to feed him the ball not for him to find ways to make goals when nobody else can get it to him.
The whole City attack has been in poor form recently… You could talk about Foden, De Bruyne etc just the same. Are the limited system players too?
Their defence isn’t working, they are conceding and when they do the opponents focus on defence and it makes it much harder for them. Allround their whole balance is crushed on the pitch and it affects everyone.
Generally I don’t think he’s that limited at all. He’s no R9, Henry, Suarez, but he can beat his man when running at him, very dangerous on open space. Far from just a box merchant. He would do brilliant in a counter attacking team too. Let’s just go back to the time he just got to City. Many doubted whether he’ll be able to adapt to a possession team and he did a brilliant job. He would actually show even more ability in a team that allows him more space.
He’s good on the ball, very high general understanding od the game, he knows how to work with rest of the team and get assists too.
When things don’t works he’s just not a guy to drop deep, take the ball and make something happen. But just because City are going through a really really bad period (they could even get relegated withouth the PL point deduction at this point :tomi: ) doesn’t make Haaland a mediocre player all of a sudden.
