Cages is what we called our local 7 a side pitches
I’d vote for keeping him here and giving him starts in the Europa League at minimum. Throw in a few League Cup and FA Cup starts depending on opposition.
Combine that with super sub minutes in the PL and potentially being only an injury away from starting centrally, then think he should stay with his. Say Lacazette gets injured for a month, you do have Auba but there’ll be a need to rotate to keep him fresh. That’s were this guy can get minutes.
Putting all of the above to one side, we need a third striker anyway so have to keep him for that alone.
shammy, something like this
I grew up playing in one at my local field, my one had the goals attached into the cage though
Auba played in one of those just a few days before joining Arsenal

Here we go!
More likely something like that. Cages in estates has bred a lot of good young footballers in England right now.
Issue is he’s likely to remain third striker for the next 2 seasons at least behind Laca and Auba. EL and cup games just isn’t good enough to develop talent. I’ve said before Laca and Auba block the development of CF talent at this club which is a poor long term move.
How is an actual breakthrough going to happen if he’s a supersub? Coming of the bench late in game distorts youth player’s development. Youth players are usually brought on towards the end to acclimate them to a higher level, it’s not a route for sustained development
The solution seems very simple to me: Shop lacazette and give his mins Nketiah. If you truly believe Nketiah has the talent to succeed here then this swap shouldn’t be an issue for you.
Honestly finding a third striker isn’t an issue for Arsenal, there’s plenty of players out there who would kill for the opportunity just to sit on the bench
Yeah. SkySports did a really good feature on Nelson and Sancho playing together in estates etc in the back in the day when they were growing up. Will try dig out later. Was a good read.
yeah that’s way more like the one I used, good find
Thanks to all for educating me on cage football. We have fields here in Ireland instead.
At 20 years of age, I don’t think his development will be stunted by being third choice. Unless we boot him down to League One or below, I don’t see where he would be first choice anywhere really?
He will learn from training with players like Aubameyang and Lacazette. Honestly, was a bit of a freak year in that both of these guys weren’t injured for very long. I’m sure there will be opportunities for Nketiah this season if he stays, and most likely through injury / rotation of the other guys.
I played in a mixture of both, sometimes they had the goal posts up and if not just use t shirts
That’s a little walk from my house
used to play there when I was a kid
Aylesbury yeah? I played there a few times lol. Wild
You used to come around block
.
But the area is changing massively
I used to know a few people around them sides lol. I spent this year New Year at some block party in Walworth.
I actually work in Kennington anyway so on the odd day I drive to work I see how much the area is changing. Shame it’s losing its community feel even if it was shit at times
19 - 21 are pretty much critical years in a youth player’s development, the only way he’ll improve his overall game is through consistent and regular game time.
Our chase for a winger indicates that we’re like to move back to a formation that only uses one striker which means both Laca and Auba are less likely to be exposed to fatigue or injury throughout the season and it means less opputunity for the 3rd striker
This is a myth. Older players almost never “coach” younger players beyond superficial advice. The training experince is limited too in sense that you don’t practice at the same intensity for the same period of time normal matches
I was thinking about this earlier, just imagine if he turned out to be our own Harry Kane, I’m going off the similarity that Kane was released by us as a kid and spurs picked him up and Eddie was released by Chelsea (was a bit older though) and we picked him up
Hopefully that’s how it works
Hearing that phrase made me vomit in my mouth
he bangs in 30 goals a season
Yes but he’s scum trash, who’d want our own Hitler? Hitler did well in WW2 until he lost, so we should want him for Arsenal. Same thing.
