I love career mode but I wish youth development wasn’t quite so overpowered. You can literally become the goat 
as Arsenal without signing a single player.

Yeah it doesn’t take long, players are randomly generated and it’s quite easy to set up. You can skip anything you don’t really want to do.
Also you can give yourself the Dortmund goal music which is almost compulsory.

Just don’t set your objectives too high. I got sacked from a save a couple months ago because I didn’t sign a young player or some shit, even though I won the league.
This time I’ve set mine as all low’s and youth development medium.

Sounds like you need to up the difficulty!
I’m also using custom sliders to make it harder. Also the youth isn’t overpowered for me, they stay pretty crappy for a long time…?
I find within two seasons you’ve got 85+ in all positions, at least in the starting positions, even without using the development plan mechanic.
The younger players like Patino and Balogun aren’t much use.
I can never seem to find sliders I like.
