Feels like they’ve tried to do something with the single player experience this year even if it’s not great. There’s these new sliders that can affect the AI behaviour. I tried a couple of games and can’t say I overly noticed a difference.
The gameplay feels a bit slower and more tactical but I feel like that happens every year with EA and over the course of the year it gets patched and turned back into a sweaty ultimate team player’s dream. There’s more quick tactical switching options in-game but as previously I don’t think you’d actually use any of them as you end up having to go into the pause menu to sort it out because the game’s put Kiwior up front randomly or something.
The commentary team will mention if you switch approaches, to a counter attack or something, but I’ve seen no sign they will do the same if the AI does so (which might mean the AI doesn’t) which would actually be useful.
Found tackling a little bit easier than the limited times I played EA24 but I did notice that when the AI is on the attack your defenders will still obligingly leave massive holes for them to move into. Sometimes they actively run away from where a real defender would absolutely be.
Some stuff that I care about:
The pre-match scene is back in properly. You can change in options to have a full scene for every game, select games or not at all as it was in EA 24.
The English commentary is somehow worse, if that were possible, despite the fact that it’s the same commentary team (by the way, fuck off Derek Rae and Stewart Robson)
Also, why does every match involve the home team kicking from left to right in the first half? How hard is it to write code to mix that up once in a while? And why at the Emirates do Arsenal have the wrong dugout? I’m sure that’s true of loads of other teams too. These are not hard things to get right but they’re wrong year after year.
My Haaland kept bulling by some 5’5" bitches… what can you say.
The AI doesn’t foul you, they just keep nigging your heels, make you off balance and steal the ball.
I think even if I buy it, I will just play mainly on the club/my career.
Screw the FUT.
I don’t see the smart move they are selling.
All the good moves are from the opposing (AI) team.
My players are stall as fuck.
If I need to call them to run or come back to get the ball on every possession, it is not smart move. It is called manual control.
Please, some other good football games are needed in the market.
It feels like they’re trying to pre-empt a potential new competitor like 2K with new options and in game managementbut there doesn’t seem to be a lot of substance behind it.
I think I read career mode will be added to the beta soon which I’ll be interested to see because it’s really the only mode I play. Ultimate Team is an absolute cancer, I can’t understand why people play it.
You know, a lot of people like assembling all star teams, and FUT gives you that option.
The problem is, just like cell phone and technology, you can never catch up.
You need to give a lot (money) or extremely lucky (draw packs) to get what you really want.
Not going to invest too much time on it, cause whatever you saved from beta, coins, levels, objectives… they cannot be transferred to the official game.
I also played a season game by using Arsenal. My opponents was Real Madrid.
Got a 2-2 draw…
Not seeing Calafiori (maybe not in the active squad, I did not check), but it was okay. Better than the FUT experience.
Tried Rush 3 times, but all got errors/opponents disconnected… so don’t know what it is.
Gameplay on the 25 beta is noticeably better in every department especially on simulation settings. Much tighter, more realistic football match experience with far better animations, tactics and defensive AI IMO. But the bar was very low with FC 24.
I had Timber at LB playing as a “false back” and he positioned really well as an extra midfielder. Again as the bar was so low, FC IQ feels like a very clear improvement on the games tactical variety and personalisation.
Enjoyed playing Rush online using Trent. Easy to sit deep and pick out runners. Wish simulation settings were available in all online modes too.
For every 10-15 corner clearance (defending), my attacker would get the ball once or twice.
For attacking corners, I NEVER get any ball bounced/cleared. Never. Unless I do short corner, if AI clear the ball, a lot of times my three defenders have to have three of four attacking AI.
I know the set up.
Doesn’t matter one in the box, two or three.
Once the ball cleared, my fucking players are never close to the ball and do no shit.
Again, the AI defending is outrageous.
I made a successful tackle but either the AI would block my way to get the loose ball, or a second AI would come immediately to take my ball away.
Even I could escape that, all my passing channels to the front would be blocked. I cannot do any counter.
Of course, the bitches put physical my guys.
It is a game of response, who react fast would win.
The way they tweak the game to be more physical, it feels like hooligans playing wrestling on the field.
I like Rush more, but playing with unknown could be boring. A lot of assholes just don’t pass and defend.
