Declan Rice (done and dusted)

To move this back to English Football? :jorginho:

I am starting to doubt that. If we get desperate, and ESR can be what tips the scale in our favour, I can see him going. Mikel is ruthless like that.

If true , just pay, stop dicking around and get it done!

I’m still hopeful but doubts definitely creeping in… if we keep dragging our feet it might make him question how much we want him.

I have a question for all the “just pay it merchants” do you always just buy a car for the price set by the seller? Do you never try to negotiate the price a little? Im curious to know.

Sometimes it honestly feels like Arsenal are the ‘black people’ of the sporting world when it comes to what the media says & writes about our club.

Genuine question — why does everyone want us to fail so badly and relish seeing us capitulate? I don’t understand the history behind it. Talk Sport, Sky Sports pundits.

Were we so insufferable in the early 00’s? I was too young to remember

You don’t and can’t negotiate when buying Tesla.

I said cars not spaceships

If there were multiple Declan Rice I would agree. We should pay what we can afford and if we can’t afford it we shouldn’t waste our time

A motor (dual motor) with four wheels, basically is still a car.
The rest are just decorations

Wrong analogy.

When it comes to cars, you have many Sellers, and you don’t just have 1 unit in that model available for sale. You can always take your time and another person not minding paying more for the same model doesn’t impact your chances of buying it as well.

Having said that, I don’t see a problem with going in with low offers and then upping them as the negotiations go on. That’s what everyone does. It just that when it’s Arsenal, it becomes public knowledge and then everyone has an opinion on why it’s the worst thing to do. But I also think that if you are completely convinced that a certain player is exactly what you need, and no alternatives come close, then you do everything you can to close the deal soon, before others get a chance.

Just stop fucking around and act smart.

It is smartass if ends with empty hands

My point being some poeple are screaming Edu OUT and just pay the fucking money, while they themselves go for bargain hunting in Aldi on a tuesday evenening to safe dough. Doesnt make any sense.

there is no price for Declan Rice. They is only a price area set by West Ham, but a bidding war was always their goal. If we did bid 100m on the spot 2 weeks ago, they would have just rejected that and asked for 120m.

If Man City, Man U or Chelsea want the same player as us, they’ll get him and there’s nothing we can do about it.
So if Man City feel that Rice is the player to replace Gundagon, they’ll do what it takes to get him and despite the FA pretending they’re looking at their finances, we all know FFP doesn’t apply to them, so that’s not an issue either.

The Tweet yesterday that said we’re “still in the race and it’s ours to throw away,” was wrong and the decision on where Rice goes is only down to Man City.

You seem to know a lot about what’s going on for someone who actually doesn’t know f*ck all

Already working on an alternative?

There’s something in the mental intangibles with Rice. Arteta wants him I think because of his field presence and leadership potential. He’s an aggressor, and if ably supported with quality around him, he doesn’t allow his team to be bullied. That’s massive if we want to stand up against City.

I hope he can have a Lampard-esque legacy at Arsenal (if we sign him). Could see him at the club for 8-10 years.

The player seemingly wants Arsenal only. That’s our saving grace. But City’s dirty, corrupt oil money normally prevails. They’ll bully West Ham with a huge offer who in turn will push Rice their way. It’s not hard to convince a player to go to City when they’re winning everything and pay the most.

I’m not optimistic.

Would have thought SMS was the guy you sign instead of Havertz as opposed to instead of Rice.

I agree but the problem is, if we don’t get him, Rice will be doing all those things for Man City.

I know that if Man City want the same player we do, they will get him.

Wasn’t he quoted at £30m a few weeks back…now it’s up to 50 which seems to be the standard price nowadays whenever we’re linked.

Fucking lucky we didn’t spend that on the likes of Lokonga

I’d rather SMS than Rice lol
