Unbelievable work rate yesterday from Rice. Rice’s stamina is so good it feels as if we have two players in one, he’s everywhere. Horse.

Suits him as well he’s got such good delivery and a good strike you wanna see him take up more dangerous positions in the final third.
After a passive start to the left midfield role but he’s really growing into it now.

We should deploy him more than the right midfield role to use those crosses.
He would be able to score long range goals as well like He did against Chelsea in his first season
Also has a great engine that allows him to get in these kind of situations frequently, while he still has the power to go back. I really expect to see him doing this quite regularly.
I mean, I always go back to Xhaka in that last season… He’s nowhere near as mobile and athletic as Rice and he was getting in these positions all the time and got plenty of G+A (7/7 I think, pretty much all open play). Rice has all the tools to do even better.
I think he still plays with a bit too much caution and that’s normal considering he was used to play as a 6 before mostly, acting as that security in midfield. It’s probaby a bit awkwafd for him to bomb forward and leave the space behind his back. But I expect him to get more comfortable to attack the final third the more he plays like this, as a box to box.
What a season he is having. 2 assists. Complete midfielder.
