He is one of the few players around right now that would be able to hang with the level of 10+ years ago.

Actually I’d say he’s more equipped for that older era, 2000s and the 90s.
Not really a specialist in these tight areas, that got so important nowadays, but with his kind of athleticism, allround qualites etc he would have been an absolute beast in those times when you had plenty more space in the midfield.

They’re just showing it on Sky now too, even rice says he started the season slow, Mikel gave him a bit of a kick and a nudge which helped him get into better form now.
Hes definitely one of the best and most humble characters in the squad.

I can’t remember this guy dropping a bad performance. Even in the worst half of football I’ve seen in a long while.
Ødegaard in the firing line, Rice dropped a stinker and it’s weird because he normally ups his game for big occasions.
Maybe it’s bias but I think Rice was cleaning up allot of the mess in midfield and couldn’t get free in order to do what he normally does by carrying the ball forward. Zubi wasn’t much help and Ødegaard did little to relieve pressure.
They also overloaded on Rice early to counteract what he normally does

Seen a clip of him and Stuivenburg arguing in the tunnel at half time.
