We might get an update on David Raya who was at London Colney yesterday, and I think I’m right in saying that to be eligible for tomorrow’s game, he has to be registered by midday today.

Competition is healthy, but the GK positions is a different beast compared to other positions. I hope Rambo has a strong head, because for a goalkeeper these things can mess with your head.

so it’s a 3 million loan deal, and then with an option to buy? doesn’t make sense as he’s a free agent in 1 seasons time anyway, just loan the guy and then refuse to pay and he can come on a free

He is signing a new deal with Brentford as part of it. Loan to buy option is activated after a small number of games.
It’s basically a loan deal with an option to buy that becomes active after a few games. The purpose is so that we could put the transfer on next years books which will help us with FFP and also potentially to make more signings this summer too.
It’s a transfer that’s been disguised as a loan that benefits Arsenal more than anyone else.
What I don’t really understand is if it’s a buy option that becomes mandatory after a few games, i.e pretty soon assuming he’s not benchmarking every game, how does that change when the transfer is accounted for under FFP, compared with outright purchase?
I would imagine the option to buy him will be activated at the end of the season, in next summer’s transfer window, as opposed to us buying him outright now and having the 30m count as part of this window/financial year.
