Another thing that Scotland has got right! Out of interest it split up regionally, or just one company across the whole of Scotland? Assume you don’t have a sewage issue then!

Just one company for the whole country.

The fact you need to buy new kettles all the time as the water ruins them blows my mind :joy:

Come enjoy the glorious hard water in the south of England.

You’ll really enjoy having to keep on top of all the limescale.

Ah Scottish water.

Legends.

High quality water and generally good maintenance of pipes.

Always give good notice and are done on time.

England might be better than us at every sport but we have better tap water. I know what I would prefer :joy::joy:

Remember when they all said Corbyn was a crazy socialist who wanted to renationalise public services and that would lead to a crazy increase in our taxes to fund it.

Looks like the government now need to step in to BAIL OUT yet another privately owned company which will cost the tax payer an extravagant amount.

These private companies love government handouts.

You could say handouts are actually part of their business model.

So called system is beyond fucked

In a little over three decades, Thames Water, the biggest water and sewerage company in England, serving 15 million people, has transformed from a debt-free public utility into what critics argue is a privately owned investment vehicle carrying the highest debt in the industry.

Over those years – as admitted by Sarah Bentley, the firm’s departing CEO – its executives and the shareholders and private equity companies who own it have presided over decades of underinvestment, aggressive cost-cutting and huge dividend payments

People should go to prison for ruining public services and still finding a way to benefit financially from it.

It must be this way because the punishment needs to be equal to the damage that can be done through wilful negligence and profiteering.

Instead they get to hop off of the doomed money making ride penalty free in carriages stuffed with cash and hop onto the next that no doubt awaits them.

Took the first bit out to make it more accurate.

Just to add/clarify, GB Energy is not really a publically owned energy company.

Crazily dishonest that it keeps being branded as such when Starmer very clearly said it wasn’t that lol (edit: to be clear, I mean by media/politicians, not saying you are being dishonest!)

Lol so it’s a fucking waste of time then

Good legacy

CoUnTrY fIrSt!

wtf, it seemed like it was branded as an energy company this entire time?? I thought it was going to compete with eOn, British Gas etc…

Companies (as in the legal structure) protect people far too much. They can do pretty much anything and then the CEO and senior management just resign and get a fat payout and go do the same shit elsewhere. Pure scum.

Meanwhile the small business owners who don’t fluff around in hours of pointless meetings and actually do real work for 70 hours a week have to personally guarantee loans and leases and can be fucked for years if things go south with their business(es).

Before @sevchenko returns to unleash further indirects about people just wanting Starmer to fail and hammering Labour without giving them a chance… :stuck_out_tongue:

I think this is better than what we currently have in place, and may well prove to be beneficial over time. I’m absolutely willing to park my judgement and see how it pans out. I’m mildly optimistic about it brining some benefits. But to be honest, I will say that I think it doesn’t go anywhere near far enough, and that I don’t think it’ll be the transformative thing some are hoping for, even if I do think it’ll probably bring some benefits.

My point here is really just to say that it is absolutely not what some are trying to sell it as.

I love how so many Scots act like England has the water supply of Somalia in order to get one over on us
