I’d rather have Podolski come out of retirement to play for us, than Carlos Vela.
Has the UK humour got misunderstood over the Atlantic again lol
Kanu must still be mid-late 30’s, get him out retirement
He’s too busy serving up kebabs
You’re aware Podolski is older than Vela, right?
But German !
I am sure Poldi is physically fitter than Vela.
So your whole “he has to be younger” argument is null and void then?
If you guys insists of getting an old man, I give you a better option from the old man group.
Otherwise, I prefer a younger guy.
Still, not Vela.
You’re just chatting waffle now.
why can you guys bullshitting here, but I cannot?
Current Carlos Vela??
Shitter than Sterling.
I don’t think that’s possible.
Anyway my pick would be Henry.
I made it quite clear that I don’t rate him to be anything other than a body on the field to give other forwards a rest for the last 20 mins. As I said “Just keep the ball safe and make yourself a nuisance on corners lad.”
If we signed another Sterling-level player in this exact situation, only idiots who don’t understand context (see Twitter for examples) would moan. As it is Sterling may turn out to have been better than nothing, again for the purposes of giving others a breather rather than earning points/scoring or doing much.
In multi-day cricket we have a “night watchman” role. Someone to just protect the wicket and not bother to much making runs towards the close of the day’s play. I see Vela or another signing as being a similar role. “Protect the wing for 20 mins so we see this out”.
I dare say Tierney would have the left wing spot covered. I trust him.
Let Chelsea buy him and they we can buy him from Chelsea for a cut price.
If it is just a body, and you believe Sterling is better than nothing…
Then this “body” can just be anybody.
Seriously, no need to be Carlos Vela.
Vela is out of the big stage football for so long, and he is 35.
Have you seen him play at LAFC?
Fuck man, that is one of the slowest league in the world.
What makes you think he can be that player who could play 20 minutes in the EPL?
Sterling stays in the EPL and cannot even keep up the speed of the game.
I’m really looking forward to your suggestion making mine look like total crap.
Or convince me that sticking on a kid who is still learning the basics and isn’t fully developed into his body is better than putting on a slow old pro who has the know-how to overcome their lack of pace.
I’m sure I’m not the only person here to have played against a 50-something ex-pro (usually with a beer belly) who manages to control the match without needing to run much, their control and reading of the game gives them time to make the right pass or block the ball. Young kids ain’t got those “smarts” yet.
Damn, how time flies. I remember his 3 goals against Sheff in the Carling Cup; top finishes those were.
Couldn’t flourish much at Arsenal because Wenger shifted away from a 4-4-2 and Vela was fairly ineffective as a left winger.
