Christ. The only saving grace is the consecutive home fixtures.
There’s no way we can take that Palace game as seriously as I’m sure we’d like to given the opportunity for silverware.
We’ll certainly be rotating 9 or 10 players for the palace game now.
PL should definitely move Everton game back by 2 days.
Everton play on 13th Dec and Arsenal on 14th Dec.
Playing on Friday 19th Dec should be acceptable
PL aren’t gonna move a game because of an EFL competition.
Sky might decide it makes sense, otherwise the games are gonna get played as currently laid out.
Time for this competition to be scrapped or participation made optional though. Just no room for it anymore as its currently constructed.

No way! It is part and parcel of the season. What they should really do is start it earlier and finish it earlier so that it doesn’t conflict with the FA Cup. They also need to do something about all the international breaks and rationalise / reschedule these.

The PL, EFL and FA are all their own entities with their own competitions.
The FA is the overall governing body with the ties to UEFA and FIFA.

Meh. There’s a litany of defunct trophies out there that don’t get played any more because they don’t make sense. That’s where the league cup finds itself when it can’t even fit into the calendar anymore.
Maybe there’s a bit more shifting could be done, but its just delaying things really.
Let the CL clubs opt out of this and it becomes a European route for others.
I’d never say the same for the FA cup so it’s not like i don’t understand the view, just don’t share it for this particular competition.
I can definitely see it getting the axe in the next decade or so.
International football fixtures need scrapping during the season this would free up more room for fixtures to be moved and spread games out ABIT more. WC/euro qualifiers can be played when the seasons done would probably get more interest then from fans aswell.
The only consolation is that Palace play Leeds the same day we play Everton.
So they’re going to be fucked too.

Bad idea imo. Means players would never get a summer off… although might be heading that way anyway I suppose…
At the rate fifa are expanding the competitions, we won’t need a qualifying process anyway.
